Since its publication in 1952, Charlotte's Web has become one of America's best-loved children's books. For fifty years, this timeless story of the pig named Wilbur and the wise spider named Charlotte who saved him has continued to warm the hearts of readers everywhere. This 1953 Newbery Honor Book comes to life in a delightful unabridged recording, read lovingly by the author himself.

It's wonderful to hear E.B. White read his own work. My kids loved listening to him as much as I did - and picked up on many of the messages of the story. Weeks later, when on the swing, my 5 year old quoted the book "children hold on tighter than you think they do". Love it!

Once there were great magicians born to the Maghuin Dhonn, the folk of the Brown Bear, the oldest tribe in Alba. But generations ago, the greatest of them all broke a sacred oath sworn in the name of all his people. Now, only small gifts remain to them. Through her lineage, Moirin possesses such gifts---the ability to summon the twilight and conceal herself, and the skill to coax plants to grow.

I am new to Jacqueline Carey and was quite delighted with the story. The pace of the story was perfect, the characters interesting, the magic / mythology fascinating. I also quite loved the themes of passion and mindfulness through breathing ("the way"). I think that there are a lot of people in our culture who could benefit from a little more attention to both!!

In the spring of 1974, Calliope Stephanides, a student at a girls' school in Grosse Pointe, finds herself drawn to a chain-smoking, strawberry-blonde classmate with a gift for acting. The passion that furtively develops between them - along with Callie's failure to develop physically - leads Callie to suspect that she is not like other girls. In fact, she is not really a girl at all.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

What a wonderful story to listen to! The various voices of the women narrators were genuine and engaging, allowing you to enter into their lives and experience the attitudes of the time. The pace of the book was perfect, encouraging just a little more listening at the end of each chapter.
