"Dirt"
Thought this was a really good book. I have a leaning towards ag and sustainable ag so I was very interested in the concepts brought forward. I have to admit while the exhaustion of the topsoil may not be the sole cause of some of the societies downfall, the thoughts brought forward make you think it played an important role.
"Christianity: The 1st 3000 years"
The 1st book is great as it covers the early history. The part about the start of Islam is really good also. The remainder is good but doesn't compare to the 1st. Either way I glad I listened in as I learned a great deal here. Narrator did a good job with the book.
"The Zimmerman Telegram"
Interesting story. Especially the parts that involved taking over the SW again. Narrator did a wonderful job.
"Thinking Fast & Slow"
This would be a better read than a listen. It is filled with theories and examples that would be better to have gone back and read and re-read to get a better understanding. If you are listening in the comfort of your home it may work but not so well in a vehicle.
Topic was good and interesting.
Patrick Egan did a fine job with the book.
"The Texas Rangers"
Book was really good. It got bogged down in some mundane details but not too often to de-rate the book any. The viewpoint was slated a bit but listened to the Empire of the Sun right after and got a real good compare and contrast perspective. Very brutal times on both sides of the fence back then.
"empire of the sun"
Enjoyed this book. Work around many of the Texas places in this book so it helped with a history of the area. Narrator did a good job. Listen to this one right after listening to a book on the early years of the Texas Rangers. Very good way of doing this to get a compare and contrast version.
"Friday's show"
The bit on the feel good story about the kid owning the eating joint is one of the funniest I have heard.
"The Big Rich"
If you are born in Texas or moved here it is a good primer for the development of the energy portion of the state.
"Good Book to Listen To"
Provided an interesting portion of the war of 1812. I didn't know much about this war much less the naval aspects of it. Very informative.
"Genghis"
Great book to listen too. The narrator did a wonderful job. One of those books where you look forward to getting into the car so you can listen more.
"The Drillmaster of Valley Forge"
Well done. I learned a great deal about someone I knew and heard nothing about. It's a shame schools don't teach the stories of history rather than the dates of history as it is much more interesting.
