Romantic, liberating and totally addictive, the Fifty Shades trilogy will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you for ever... Daunted by the dark secrets of the tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Ana Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a US publishing house. But desire for Grey still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, she cannot resist.

I found this really difficult to rate - it does get you in - but its the classic girls meets screwed up millionaire. The plot is weak and predictable - you think that there is going to be some drama some suspense but it fizzles out.
Focused way too much on having sex every five minutes - but with more in the story line even that could have been forgiven.
Its pretty much Mills and Boon on steroids. If you want an easy listen that wont keep you awake at night this is it. Oh and just a tiny bit of day dreaming about being with Mr Grey and his money lol

Far from the land of her birth, Moirin sets out across Tatar territory to find Bao, the proud and virile Ch'in fighter who holds the missing half of her diadh-anam, the divine soul-spark of her mother's people. After a long ordeal, she not only succeeds but surrenders to a passion the likes of which she's never known. But the lovers' happiness is short-lived, for Bao is entangled in a complication that soon leads to their betrayal.

I enjoyed this follow up to Naamahs gift - its a great listen very well read. Its a bit like Lord of The Rings though with Morien saving the day where ever she goes. Its wide ranging and engaging. Good story line with some twists that are unexpected. This keeps the interest as its not always predictable.
I think the writer is making some commentary on the world as she replicates countries and religions that we can recognise.
I will be looking for the next one :)

    > In 1860, an eccentric Irish police officer named Robert O'Hara Burke led a cavalcade of camels, wagons and men out of Melbourne. Accompanied by William Wills, a shy English scientist, he was prepared to risk everything to become the first European to cross the Australian continent. A few months later, an ancient coolibah tree at Cooper Creek bore a strange carving: 'Dig Under 3ft NW'. Burke, Wills and five other men were dead.

Love learning about burke and wills - how amazing that they were basically jerks lol. It is incredible to think that not that long ago people were dying trying to find out what was in the centre of Australia. It is also amazing how ignorant they we were to our indigenous people. Had they valued their friendship and knowledge- they would have lived. Thanks to the theory of evolution that made white men think that they were inferior.

What made the experience of listening to The Secret River the most enjoyable?

This was an awesome read that made me wish i could jump into and explain to both sides what was going on such a small amount of understanding would have changed the course of history

I too am very disappointed that after wading through 11 books to find that 12 had turned in 12,13, and 14.
I am glad that it was picked up to be finished after the sad loss of Robert.
However in true style it moves the story only a very little way for so many words.
I hated the narration both voices were too 'old ' and dry sounding and lacking in excitement and pitch variation. Particularly when Rand is speaking, didnt match the voice in my head- I have read all the rest, not listened.

This is a well written engrossing book that keeps you moving through it. I both love and hate the way the generational stories are woven togther to reveal the truth. While on one hand you want to stay with the person moving back forth between the generations builds the story and the anticipation so well

But generations ago, the greatest of them all broke a sacred oath sworn in the name of all his people. Now, only small gifts remain to them. Through her lineage, Moirin possesses such gifts---the ability to summon the twilight and conceal herself, and the skill to coax plants to grow.

I loved the narrator ,the whole story was engaging. I did get bored with the sex scenes, they could have been a little less. That aside I am hoping there is a follow up. I was sad when it ended but at least I got some sleep!
