I like fantasy type books that almost seem to blur the lines of fantasy and reality.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

I bought this book after seeing that it was on sale and also had good reviews. I'm glad I did. The book made me tense up at times, at others I wanted to cry. I felt emotions for the characters and the story kept my interest through out the entire book. It left me wanting more. Needless to say, I purchased the second book of the trilogy.

There were only a few things missing in it that prevented it from giving 5 stars. The characters didn't pop out at me as much as I would have liked and I found myself making up most of their features. (this could have been due to me missing out on parts due to interruptions at home). Also, the narrator was odd. She sounded angry and sharp at parts that I thought would sound better said in a less forcefull way. Still, I got used to her tone and it was only a slight disruption in the story.

Overall a good book to listen to. I would recommend.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I decided to purchase this audiobook due to it's rating and reviews. It did not disappoint at all. As previously mentioned the narration is spot on. It grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go thru the whole book. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends. Not sure if I would have enjoyed it had it not been an audiobook. Hearing it actually brought the whole book to life. It was pure delight. I was so upset when it ended because it was so good that I wanted it to continue.
