With personalities that you know and love, there is something to be important to be said for self narration. Tina Fey is an incredible writer, who creates such clever ideas that to hear them expressed by her really takes you to the height of enjoyment. I loved this book. I even bought it for my mom. The dedication at the beginning, "I made this for you out of macaroni" was enough to hook me and I was enjoying and laughing till the end. It was also a lot more revealing, in a Tina Fey sort of way, than I expected; hearing about her scar, her weight, her husband and being a mother. I recommend this to anyone with a good sense of humor and respect for comedic biographies.
I originally got this book because I love Kathy Griffin and had just heard "Official book Club Selection." I wanted to hear as much as I could. When I started to listen to it on a plane the audio quality was so bad I could barely keep listening. I was on a long plane ride so I braved it. The story itself was so-so, taking place in the 90's with so many pop culture references to the time it almost felt like a period piece. Even the reference to the "213" is outdated today. It wasn't the best use of my time, but Kathy definitely delivered- in the same way she delivered on Suddenly Susan. Not the best acting, but always fun. She has gotten much better over time. Not sure if the audio can be fixed- but if it can and you're from LA and like fluff- you might enjoy listening to this one.
