"Great!!"
This 2nd book in the Sookie Stackhouse series was really suspenseful and I think I may have liked it even better than the first because it was so fast paced. I like the continuation of Sookie and Bill's love story though find the development of Eric somewhat intriguing and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see where their relationship goes.
"Bittersweet"
I didn't know what to expect from some of the negative reviews so I tried to prepare myself for the worst. This may have proved to be my favorite book perhaps because of the inner turmoil the characters go through. Yes, it was dark, sad and bittersweet. But it was realistic I thought in how it portrayed war and the moral lines that get crossed. If you are looking for a happy story, this isn't it, but it is a great story. Not everything in war is black and white and this last segment of the trilogy had a lot of irony in it.
I thought the ending did get tied up nicely and I was happy there was an epilogue which I thought to be a realistic and bittersweet ending to the story.
I thought Carolyn McCormick did an outstanding job in all the books but especially in this book with the emotional turmoil that runs throughout.
"Rollercoaster ride"
Alls I can say is OMG. I think I walked around with my mouth hanging open half the time while listening to this book because of all the twists, turns, and unexpected events. I went back to the beginning and started with Book 1 and then each book in succession until Shadowfever. It was so excellent hearing the story unfold back to back. Very satisfying. All the questions are answered.
This book will make NO sense if you haven't read or listened to the first 4 books. A couple people have complained that she whined alot in this book and yes in the beginning she does but you have to take it in context knowing what happened in the previous 4 books.
This is by far my all time favorite series. The Sookie Stackhouse series would be my 2nd all time favorite series. I am sad to be leaving it and have NO idea what to listen to next.
"Another great book, just not my favorite BDB book."
This was a good story about John and Zhex. I have to be honest, I was a bit turned off by the homosexual line that ran throughout this book. It just left me with a "ick" feeling. A few of the books have hinted in this way but this one was way too out there for me anyways. Other then that I enjoyed the story line and as always J.R. Ward puts out a great story.
"Aisling is definitely in trouble this time"
I do really enjoy these books. In this 3rd Aisling Grey book she really gets herself into some hot water and I wonder how she will remedy this. In each book things seem to get worse and worse and this book is no exception. The romance scenes don't do much for me in this series and I fast forward through them. I'm not sure if its the narrator whom I actually like or the scenes themselves though there weren't many in this book. I am hoping in the 4th and final book some things get wrapped up!
"Enjoyed this book"
I enjoyed this listen and plan on downloading the next book. Its a little cheesy here and there but I still liked it quite a bit. I liked the narrator though others are right you can hear her swallow here and there. Any decent editor should be able to get rid of that! Usually I am working out when I'm listening so I didn't hear it much and it didn't bother me but it is there. I thought other then the swallowing bit she had a good voice and it was clear between characters.
"Jodi Picoult never disappoints"
Like all her books, this one did not disappoint. I love the layout of the way she writes giving each persons perspective as the story moves on. The audio was really well done with 4 or 5 different narrators. Yes, I had it figured out early on but I think maybe she meant it that way? She gave a big hint early on. Maybe it wasn't about whodunnit, but more about why they dunnit!
"Great books"
This is the 4th book in the Mercy Thompson series and it didn't disappoint. I love the narrator Lorelei King and unfolding story from book to book. This was as good as all the rest but there is more that happens with her relationship with Stephen the vampire. Her relationship with Adam grows too as Mercy finally learns to rely on someone else. We find out more about her walker abilities in this book. These books are non-stop action from beginning to end and I really enjoy them. But audible where is book #5??? Where is Silver Borne?
"Fantastic"
Another fantastic Mercy Thompson book! When Mercy's friend Z gets arrested for murder she does everything she can to find out who the real murderer is but this time gets herself in even deeper then usual and gets hurt physically and spiritually. Mercy finally comes to a decision between Samuel and Adam and who she really wants to be with long term. I love how these books are non stop from beginning to end. I actually really like the narrator Lorelei King. I don't find her breathy like some listeners and really enjoy her as Mercy. Maybe if I had read the books first I would feel differently. This is the 3rd Mercy Thompson book so if you haven't read them yet you definitely need to start with Moon Called the 1st book.
"Great start to a series"
This is my first time reading/listening to a Patricia Briggs novel. I really liked the narrator alot and thought she did an excellent job with all the voices and nuances of emotion. This first book was good and the main character Mercy is a strong female but not standoffish and I liked her right away. I'd like to see more happen with some potential romantic interests as it was barely touched upon in this book. Some interesting twists to a common storyline in fantasy literature right now (vampires/werewolves/fae). I have already downloaded book #2 "Blood Bound".
"One of my favorites so far!"
This is the longest BDB books at about 24 hours and it was hard to put down my earphones for any of it. I think this is one of the best books so far closely tied with #3 Lover Awakened (Zhadist/Bella) and #4 Lover Revealed (Butch/Marissa). I thought this installment was emotionally deeper then the last couple of books or maybe I just had a hard time liking Phury and/or relating to Vishous. This book is about Rehvenge and Ehlena and had alot of twists and turns as they all do but I felt more empathy for these two characters. This book also delved a little more into John and Zhex and there was quite a bit about Wrath and Beth too. I can't wait for the next book, Lover Mine due out in April 2010. If you haven't read this series you need to start at the beginning with Dark Lover and work your way forward, its a series you shouldn't skip around in as one leads to another. They are very darkly emotionally and highly sexual in nature.
