mark twain writes about boys in his day that reminds you of some of the things many boys could/would have done in any era. boys will be boys and once being a boy i found myself deeply engrained in this novel. wasn't the best but right up there.
JUST AS WITH BOOK 1 THIS STORY STARTS TOO SLOW. THE AUTHOR SPENDS TOO MUCH TIM REVIEWING BOOK 1. ONCE HE IS DONE WITH THIS I WOULD GIVE THE BALANCE OF THE BOOK 4 STARS. BECAUSE OF THE LENGTHY REVIEW I GIVE IT 3 TO 3.5 STARS.
USUALLY THE MOVIE DOES NOT DO THE BOOK ANY JUSTICE, BUT IN THIS CASE I MUCH PREFER THE MOVIE. I GIVE THIS BOOK 3 OR 3.5 STARS BECAUSE IT IS A LITTLE DRY. THE PREMISE IS VERY GOOD HOWEVER.
THE BOOKS THAT I GAVE 4 STARS TO, I WAS BEING A LITTLE GENEROUS. I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED TO GIVE 3.5 STARS
BOOK 6 OF THE 6 BOOK SERIES IS VERY GOOD BUT IS THE WEAKEST OF THE SERIES. MR. DeMILLE IN AN INTERVIEW SAID THIS WOULD BE THE BEST OF THE SERIES BUT I HAVE TO STRONGLY DISAGREE.
all u.s. history students should be required to read this. just an amazing look into this great country.
very interesting facts but said nothing about the adventure on the high seas and was a little dry.
this one definitely shows mark twain's imagination. you think he had an imagination in the adventures of: tom sawyer or huckleberry finn, this one is off the charts. well done! they say charles dickens is the best england has produced, while being very imaginative charles dickens doesn't have the consistantcy that mark twain delivers.
because of books such as "Gone With The Wind" and "Uncle Tom's Cabin" i have found myself searching for and reading other books about this period. As with "Gone With The Wind" i found myself being projected back into time.
i couldn't believe that a history book, autobiography, could keep me this interested. i do like history but this was more than expected.
