A Cambridge historian is found drowned, clutching a glass prism in her hand. The book she was writing about Isaac Newton's involvement with alchemy remains unfinished. When her son, Cameron, asks his former lover, Lydia Brooke, to ghostwrite the missing final chapters of his mother's book, Lydia agrees and moves into Elizabeth's house. Soon Lydia discovers that the violence that has fallen across present-day Cambridge may have its origins in the troubling evidence that Elizabeth's research has unearthed.

    "not a mystery"
    Overall

    1.This is a romance, not a mystery.
    2. There is blessed little "history" in this historical non-mystery.
That said, I'm sure the story is just fine for romance readers/listeners. The narrator is fine. I should have cross-referenced the title before I bought it.

Everything you have read about the tedious, whining narration is true. Buy this in paperback and use your credits for something else.

  • Agatha Raisin: The Terrible Tourist and Fairies of Frylam (Dramatisation)

Penelope Keith stars as Agatha Raisin in two full-cast BBC Radio 4 dramas. After a lifetime spent in public relations, the drinking and smoking one-woman dynamo that is Agatha Raisin struggles to adapt to life in a quiet Cotswold village. Penelope Keith stars again as Agatha Raisin - Miss Marple with attitude in the fourth volume of full-cast dramas based on the bestselling books by M.C. Beaton.

"Only one of the stories is on this download!"
    Overall

Buyer beware - this download contains only The Terrible Tourist.
That tale is great fun and Penelope Keith is fabulous - I really enjoyed what was there - but audible needs to delete the Fairies of Fryham title.
