it was very informative - got a little dry in spots but over all quite good
I love audiobooks. I don't have time to sit and read. With audible I can listen as I go about my day.
I liked the historical backgroud - the twists and turns of the plot and the period detail.
And I liked how Maurice trained Maisie to develop he intuition.
There were so many - its hard to say.
Really good series - I am almost through the second book in the series.
I am sure I will listen to all of them.
All the twists and turns - and how real it seemed.
She did a good job - but was to many pauses - I preferred the narrator in Mr. Churchill's Secretary
the narration - the content - none of this was new but it was presented in a thoughtful and well organized manner
This was my first listen and I thought he did a great job.
the idea of thinking about a "default future".
4.5 out of 5 - only because it is different from anything else.
I have been reading the late Mrs. Shinn's books for years and was thrilled to see that they have been recorded. There was some extra material in the audio version - mostly anecdotes
Hearing the book made it come alive.
no - but she really made sense in her approach. This is one of the original self help books and one of the best.
I learned so much. As a chef instructor I am lecturing about salt all the time.
I had not realized that so much history was hinged on salt.
He did a great job - very easy to listen too.
No it is no long - I listened to it while I was cooking and working around the house.
yes - because of the excellent narration by Edward Petherbridge - who was to me the most perfect Lord Peter Wimsey
it had as many strange, unexpected twists as the Dorothy L. Sayers originals
the scene by the pink marble sundial - I love it when people stay in love
It was just time well spent with characters I have loved since early adolescence
Please get "Gaudy Night" recorded - then the Lord Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane series will be complete.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a great portrait of 1950s New York. It made me long for the old days of big department stores. I loved the parts about the custom shop and the details about the couture work they did.Lucia's story was well told and Mira did a great job narrating.
Lucia, of course.
