Brandon Sanderson did a magnificent job in continuing Jordan's story, I barely noticed a difference in writing style! It's great that Kramer and Reading have continued to do the reading to keep the story as seamless as possible but Sanderson really comes through for us - I can't wait for the next book and will be somewhat sad when the third and final (really?) comes out and it all ends! Like many, I've read/listened to some of the first books, like, nine or ten times! This led me to try out Sanderson's Mistborn series, pretty good for a beginner, I'm definately hooked! The legacy lives on!!!!
Story was written for kids with little consideration for adult readers and listeners.
I expected a story worthy of the Spider-Man brand. Instead I got a rushed story tailored for children.
The narraration was fine. Kept the reader engaged.
This story would not translate to the big sdcreen. Feels more like a cartoon than a two hour movie.
I've listened through twice since downloading and can't wait for the second book to come out! There is no lowering of expectation here, Sanderson comes through on this book with all the skill and talent that I have come to expect! Since I found out that he would be finishing the Wheel of Time series I decided to try him out and have not been disappointed at all!!! He has fast become my favorite auther (sorry Stephen King and Robert Jordan) with fantastic worlds, robust societies and lovably lovable and hatable characters (just like in our world!) I would be honored to have Dalanar as a father and Caladon as a son, both wonderfully honorable characters with all too human flaws.
And the narrators are simply the best! I love how they brought the Wheel of Time to life (and I actually read 10 of those books!) and they are doing just the same justice to Way of Kings -- how does Michael Kramer manage all those separate and distinct voices!
If you love a good story, strong character building, and a way out world that could conceivably be a mirror world, you will not be disappointed in this story! Way to go, Sanderson! Keep it up and keep 'em coming!
Nice twist to the "other world as part of our world" plot! Sanderson's job on The Wheel of Time: The Gathering Storm is what led me to this series and I am suitably impressed. With Robert Jordan gone I was afraid I would be adrift without a favorite writer (2nd only to Stephen King, of course!) but I think Sanderson may have saved the day. He's got good character development, fun twists, throws in some real tongue in cheek humor, and paints a vivid picture without bogging down in scenery! I look forward to more of his stories through the years!
