I brought the audio book because it has my favorite writers. However it would seem these short stories were a collection of their worst.
I bought the book expecting stories on different types of alien life. it ended up being about microbe life and some possible alien life mixed in. I am not interested in microbe life however the book itself turned out to be quite entertaining. Even the reader made it enjoyable and I am glad I ended up buying and listening to the book.
I pushed through as much as I could on this book but had to stop. The writing and subject are outstanding However, Suzanne Toren reads it as if she's standing in front of a class of first graders. I'll buy the printed version.
I am a Alissa fan. However, this is not his best work. Also the narrators voice bored me to the point of deleting the book before I was half through it.
I enjoyed the story however, personally I will avoid future audios by this Narrator. There was never any real emotion in his voice. Worse was the long silenced and sudden pause between sentences causing several times for me to reach for my phone thinking the audio app had stopped working.
I could no longer torture myself and had to end the story half way through. At this point the character has yet to make it out of the office building. Not only do all the characters seem boring but the narrator, Jim Roberts, reads as if a bed time story to small children.
I only do reviews if the book is extraordinarily good or really bad. This book was extraordinary great. The characters were well portrayed with lots of personality. Just when you think you know what's around the next bend, your jaw drops. The ending does not leave you having but does beg for a sequel.
