Over all this book did not hold my attention. I felt that this was the James Ray Fan club manifesto, lead by James Ray! I do appreciate that he is doing well and all the ideas are similar to all the other speakers, he never reached me.. Not to PooPoo the book for every one, this was not for me..

  • The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism

    • ABRIDGED (9 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Naomi Klein
    • Narrated By Jennifer Wiltsie
    Overall
    (593)
    Performance
    (182)
    Story
    (179)

In her ground-breaking reporting, Naomi Klein introduced the term "disaster capitalism". Whether covering Baghdad after the U.S. occupation, Sri Lanka in the wake of the tsunami, or New Orleans post-Katrina, she witnessed something remarkably similar. People still reeling from catastrophe were being hit again, this time with economic "shock treatment": losing their land and homes to rapid-fire corporate makeovers.

    Overall

I liked the book. My problem is with Naomi’s constant, and aggressive attacks of the Republican Party. I don’t think her books need these sensationalized stabs at this party that she so obviously dislikes. On several occasions I was about to turn it off, and chalk it up to pandering to the liberal jib-jab, but she had some good points that kept me listening. It does open your eyes, although the concepts would be more valid without her political manipulations that constantly seem to appear in each chapter, and after each insight.
Excluding Naomi’s personal views, this book is very persuasive in the arguments that it makes, and causes one to think about the current affairs of the global manipulations by a few tinkers.

Amid the Canary Islands lies the massive crater of the volcano Cumbre Vieja. Scientists theorize that one day the volcano will erupt, triggering a series of events that would lead to a tsunami wave higher than any in recorded history. This mega-tsunami, with waves of more than 150 feet in height, would ravage Europe, Africa, and ultimately the East Coast of the United States, causing immeasurable loss of life and destruction.

I have read many other books by Patrick Robinson, and would like to hear more by this author. The Scimitar 12 was unbelievable in it?s timing of would events. The down side is that I felt shorted as this was not the unabridged version. I like the way he play?s the character against one another, and in this version some of that is missing. This is a good intro into Patrick Robinsons work, and I hope that audible would get the rest of his works , only in the unabridged version.

More than two decades have passed since the events chronicled in The Butlerian Jihad. The crusade against thinking robots has ground on for years, but the forces led by Serena Butler and Irbis Ginjo have made only slight gains; the human worlds grow weary of war, of the bloody, inconclusive swing from victory to defeat. Get ready for Dune: The Machine Crusade.

Wow, the trouble with this book is that it has a ending. This read would be perrfect is it was another 27 hours. Basically I didn't want the story to end. I'm waiting for the next adventure.
I think Dune: The Machine Crusade and the Butlerin Jihad are Better than his father books.. Well done
