It is truly amazing to read about the shenanigans that went on in the Royal lives of the 15th century. Philippa Gregory did wonderful job at including fact and filling in the unknown with realistic fiction. I have always been intrigued by the history of British Royalty for some reason and found this book an excellent review of it for this time period. I want to read it again! Susan Lyons did a wonderful job with the narration.
The reasons for success are really quite incredible as evidenced by the research that Malcolm Gladwell has done. I chose this book because my sons (in their mid twenties) told me it was great. I was skeptical but pleasantly surprised. I think listening to this book would probably be easier than reading it because of the statistical information. Not one to read this type of book (prefer fiction and escapism) I expected to be bored but I was intrigued. It was even more interesting that it was read by Malcolm Gladwell himself. I would highly recommend this book.
The main character in this book is so frustrating because she doesn't learn from her mistakes and doesn't catch on to anything!! This book frustrated me because of it. I had heard that it was funny and a lead to a great series of books however I won't be reading any more of them. Emily Gary the narrator did a great job however.
Tina Fey had me giggling throughout the whole book. It was even better because she was the reader! I was so sad when it ended. It could be that I am a woman, about the same age, so her experiences really struck home. However, I plan on recommending it to my daughter and her friends (20 somethings).
as with most historical fiction it does at times paint horror. fabulous characterizations by Robin Miles!!!!!!
I would recommend this however I'd tell them to fast forward over some of the terrible scenes that were a part of life back in the dark ages.
I was pleased with how the book ended.
I liked his performance of Phillip, the prior
