  • The Big Bang Theory and Philosophy: Rock, Paper, Scissors, Aristotle, Locke

Ever wonder what Aristotle might say about the life Sheldon Cooper leads? Why Thomas Hobbes would applaud the roommate agreement? Who Immanuel Kant would treat with "haughty derision" for weaving "un-unravelable webs"? And - most importantly - whether Wil Wheaton is truly evil? Of course you have. Bazinga!

This book mines the deep thinking of some of history's most potent philosophical minds to explore your most pressing questions about The Big Bang Theory and its nerdy genius characters.

    Story

Terrific narration to bring the examples & philosophical tenets together. The show continues to progress and develop beyond what is captured at the time of publication/narration, but this creates a basis for analyses of current and future episodes.

New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon enchanted scores of fans with Outlander, her electrifying historical saga set in 18th-century Scotland. Now this sequel sweeps listeners back into the past as Claire relates more of her perilous sojourn there with her Scottish warrior husband, James Fraser. Twenty years after her strange journey back in time, Claire has returned to Scotland with her daughter, determined to share with her the secret she has harbored since her time travel.

As with the first installment in the Outlander series, this was a compelling and interesting story, if at times with scenes and descriptions almost too much to hear.

When she was suddenly given the opportunity of a new life in rural Jutland, journalist and archetypal Londoner Helen Russell discovered a startling statistic: the happiest place on earth isn't Disneyland but Denmark, a land often thought of by foreigners as consisting entirely of long, dark winters, cured herring, Lego and pastries. What is the secret to their success? Are happy Danes born or made?

I have been spoiled by temperate westher, but the idea of having an ex-pat life in Denmark is made more appealing (except winter) by Helen Russell's account of her year of attempting to understand what factors contribute to the happiness of the Danes. Her monthly lessons on all things traditional in Denmark are amusing, informative, and delightful. I can't wait to apply her top ten tips in my own life!

Maleficent was a different sort of faerie. For one thing she was raised by all the Fair Folk after her parents were killed. For another she believed there had to be some good in everyone, even humans. Happy and spirited, Maleficent was beloved by all who knew her. That is until she experienced the ultimate betrayal by a trusted friend.
