  • Dissolution: Forgotten Realms: War of the Spider Queen, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Richard Lee Byers
    • Narrated By Rosalyn Landor
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The War of the Spider Queen begins here. While their whole world is changing around them, four dark elves struggle against different enemies. Yet their paths will lead them all to the most terrifying discovery in the long history of the drow and set them on a quest to save not only Menzoberranzan but the entire dark elf race from Dissolution....

Michael says: "A Dark Elf Series That Will Consume You..."
    "Most boring story ever"

I didn't even finish this story because it was so boring. Battle, fight, 2 minutes of dialogue, then battle, fight, etc. No drama, can't make a connection to the characters, no plot, don't waste your time.

  • Doctor Sleep: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Will Patton

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

D says: "The sequel to the book; not the movie"
    "Fantastic story with fantastic narrator"

OMG - I just loved this book. I normally do not like Stephen King stories because they're too creepy, but this one was great. There's not too much blood and guts - but a lot of terrifying suspense!

I think that the story is excellent but what really caught me good and fast was the narrator. Will Patton is one of the best narrators I ever heard. He can work so many different characters and they are totally believable. I just finished this book about 10 minutes ago and wanted to put in this review now - excellent!

  • Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Jim Butcher
    • Narrated By John Glover
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When we last left the mighty wizard detective Harry Dresden, he wasn't doing well. In fact, he had been murdered by an unknown assassin. But being dead doesn't stop him when his friends are in danger. Except now he has nobody, and no magic to help him. And there are also several dark spirits roaming the Chicago shadows who owe Harry some payback of their own. To save his friends - and his own soul - Harry will have to pull off the ultimate trick without any magic....

Bill says: "Not the best audio book in the series"

Although I am a hugh fan of Jim Butcher and the Dresden Files, I was dissapointed in this book mostly due to the writing. Very little action, Dresden's actions were illogical and the story dragged. I would skip it and move on to the next book in the series.

  • The Lighthouse Land: The Lighthouse Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Adrian McKinty
    • Narrated By Gerard Doyle

When Jamie’s mother inherits a small island and moves her little family from Harlem to Ireland, her troubled son sees a chance to start over, far away from the bullies and the pitying stares. Cancer has left Jamie without an arm or the will to speak. But Muck Island is no sanctuary, and it offers more than solitude and sea views. Jamie learns that he is heir to an ancient title—Laird of Muck, Guardian of the Passage—and certain otherworldly responsibilities.

    Kathy says: "Brilliant!"
    "Excellent for young adults"

Excellent for young adults or pre-teens / teens. A bit too juvenile for adults, but a good listen which captured my attention and kept me interested. Similar to Narnia.

  • Hard Magic: Book I of the Grimnoir Chronicles

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 59 mins)
    • By Larry Correia
    • Narrated By Bronson Pinchot

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

Clinton says: "Not what I thought it was going to be."
    "I loved it!"

This book is interesting, fun, imaginative, and held my attention throughout. There were NO dull parts. It was a complete surprise! Bronson Pinchot amazed me because he did all of the characters extremely well. This story has heros, villians, humor and sadness. 5 stars!
