Family. Loyalty. Love.
This question can not be answered I love these performers!
The first book was a stand alone book...but I am so glad we were given this second book to enjoy. Glad our characters had another chance to "visit"with us some more.
I read this book in 1982 then gave the book to friend. So glad to see it again and this time in audio format.
Peabody and Emerson are just plain fantastic characters. They are such cool people!
Peabody is before her time. Such ideas! She studies, she learns and then she executes! Love the scene when Emerson is sick, and the one with the snake.
I think so. I've listened to her read many times. She becomes the characters...and that is great.
The snake on the covers is a very telling moment for me.
New spin on new world vs old history. I enjoyed the book!
Vega Jane. So interesting how she picked up the pieces of her life and moved forward.
I will listen to this story again. It was fast paced and I don't want to miss any of the story.
The ghost woman's decision near the very end of the book.
Yes. I listen to the Duncan Kincade/Gemma James series by Deborah Crombie. I really like his voice and the accents seem very smooth.
No, I did not have an extreme reaction, but it was sad. Such a terrible time in history...unthinkable, really. It is hard to believe what the Irish had to live with. This book shares memories of those times. My husband and I took a vacation trip to England in 1984. Three days before our trip the IRA set off a bomb in one of the Heathrow terminal walkways...we walked right by the scorch marks. I think that reality made this book more "real" to me.
Not better..but different in a very good way. . With audio we get the voice.. the music of the story. When reading we don't get that added pleasure.
Not aware of a comparison.
His performance was really very well done. He goes from men to women easily and the accents and tones make the characters easily recognizable. I would hope that he continue the series.
I liked that the main character had flaws and the courage to keep on going. My favorite is the giving of the green dress...and then wishing he could take it back. What a character!
This book was really well written. I liked the characters and plot and hope for more installments to follow.
I have listened to the audio twice already and plan to enjoy it again. The series is well developed and the characters are wonderful.
B's stand at the gate.
Renee IS audio for Ilona Andrews. Both the Kate Daniels books and the Edge books. The fans want Renee...she is just plain wonderful... no other word needed.
"Hush, little baby, don't you cry..." This section just tore my heart out.
I just love these books and, of the series, this may be my favorite. This installment is a bit different, the problems are different...but a very interesting book. And we know that another ...or two...will follow. Yea!
I loved the Southern accents. So many accents are forced and you just want to turn the recording off. The choice of Susan Ericksen to read this book was a very wise choice.
This very unusual story blended family bonds, tasty flowers and herbs, a magical tree and a mystic cousin...what else could we ask for?
I thought Evanell was a treasure. Wouldn't it be wonderful to know someone like her?
I can't do that. I listen as time allows while doing housework, errands and on computer games.
I have listened to the story about 3 times now. I love the book and will buy the full series. The setting draws you in. The Chief Inspector, his staff and the townspeople are believable and wonderful characters.
I love his voice. The characters are well defined. The French spoken in this book makes the story come alive...more enjoyable. I don't think there could have been a better choice.
When they found the happy faces in the living room their conversations were priceless!
This is the first of a series of books. Be sure to listen to them all!
This is one of my favorites. A very different type of story line which unlocked all kinds of possibilities. Gives you something to think about for sure.
Of course I like King and Maxwell but I grew to really like the brother and sister. I liked the way the sister took care of her brother. Family first!
Oh, yes! I hope they are matched as readers on the Baldacdi books in the future and for many, many books to come. A perfect match. Their tones, accents, and timing give the story that "little extra" that the written word just can not do.
I can't do that as real life comes first. I plug in my ear buds and shop, clean, cook and listen as time allows.
I've enjoyed many of the Baldacci books and look forward to them faithfully. He researches his work and presents it and his characters in very enjoyable reads.
The way the series ending came together.
Ren. Faithful, enduring, mature.
Oh, she is superb! Without the reading you do not get the true Indian flavor of the books.
Many parts in this book made me cry.
The girls teen-aged angst is overplayed. A weak, insecure girl would never had taken the first step of this 2 year journey. But I really like the series of 4 books. I would skim over some of the parts to get to the core of the books and I found them enjoyable and well worth the read.
Love the idea.
The idea that Ren was very thoughtful, caring and mature. Certain of what he wanted in life.
I have not. But I have listened to all four books in this series and Annika and Sanjiv do a very nice performance in this first book and Annika continues with really great work in the following books.
I liked the first time she saw Ren as a man, and the first time he talked to her.
The teen-aged angst in the series is overdone. I think if the girl were really that weak and insecure in herself she would never have begun the adventure. The story without that is very well written and carries the book and series.
