  • The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Dorothy Gilman
    • Narrated By Barbara Rosenblat

Mrs. Virgil (Emily) Pollifax of New Brunswick, New Jersey, was a widow with grown children. She was tired of attending her Garden Club meetings. She wanted to do something good for her country. This first in the series sends Emily on her first case after she successfully persuades a skeptical CIA recruitment officer that she is the best person for the job.

Linda says: "Miss Julia Does Bond"
    "Mrs. Pollifax"

Love this book - read it years ago and couldn't wait for the rest of the series to appear on Audible.

  • Dog on It: A Chet and Bernie Mystery

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Spencer Quinn
    • Narrated By Jim Frangione

In this, their first adventure, Chet and Bernie investigate the disappearance of Madison, a teenage girl who may or may not have been kidnapped, but who has definitely gotten mixed up with some very unsavory characters.

    Maggie says: "Great entertainment!"
    "Hilarious Series!"

If you've ever owned a dog you will love this book and all the Chet and Bernie series! The "from the dogs point of view" comments made by Chet (the jet) are hilarious and entertaining. The narrator is terrific and I can't wait for the next story to come out on Audible. This book appeals to all age 11 year old grandson, my husband and I (69 and 73) and my 89 year old aunt as well.

  • Kisser: A Stone Barrington Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Stuart Woods
    • Narrated By Tony Roberts
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Stone Barrington is back in New York, and after a rather harrowing sojourn in Key West, he's looking to stay closer to home and work on some simple divorce and custody cases for Woodman & Weld. But when he crosses paths with a fetching Broadway actress-and sometime lip model- Stone gets a little more deeply involved with business than he'd expected. When his new lady love turns out to be a lady with a shady past, Stone and downtown cop Dino Bacchetti realize that her beauty may have an unusually high price.

    A User says: "No more...."

I have listened to most of the Stuart Woods books on audible and found the Stone Barrington series getting worse and worse. The plots are getting thinner and thinner, most of the book devoted to various meaningless sex segments with no relationship to the story. Don't bother with this one. It is totally unbelieveable. He must have hired some bonehead to help him write it.

  • Double Whammy

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 13 mins)
    • By Carl Hiaasen
    • Narrated By George Wilson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A twisted tale of murder in the world of big-stakes bass fishing tournaments. Filled with ex-wives, evangelists, and an armed pit-bull, this is a story that could only be concocted by Carl Hiaasen, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, New York Times best-selling author, and czar of Florida noir fiction.

    David says: "First For Me"
    "Fabulous Read!"

We have now heard every Hiaasen book at Audible and can't wait for more. We listen to them over and over because the characters are becoming like old friends. Let's have another one soon!

  • Two Dollar Bill

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Stuart Woods
    • Narrated By Tony Roberts

Two-Dollar Bill delivers all the storytelling twists and whip-smart banter readers have come to love in Stuart Woods's thrillers. In this latest, Stone Barrington, the suave Manhattan cop-turned-lawyer, is back on his home turf facing down a brilliant Southern flimflam man.

Bill says: "Wonderful example to Stuart Woods' books"
    "Fun listen"

We had a great time listening to this book. The narrator was terrific and the story was easy listening and exciting at the same time. Please bring more Stuart Woods books to Audible!

  • A Salty Piece of Land

    • ABRIDGED (8 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Jimmy Buffett
    • Narrated By John David Souther

If Tully Mars had known what he was getting himself into when he agreed to help find the lost lens belonging to the lighthouse on Cayo Loco, well, he might never have agreed to help in the first place. Then again, maybe he simply would have taken a slightly longer nap before setting off on his wild adventure. And it isn't just Tully, whom Buffett fans will remember well from Jimmy's best-selling Tales from Margaritaville, on the madcap quest.

    Sean says: "ParrotHead Reading"
    "Can't stay interested"

I've listened to this book in stops and starts as I just can't stay interested. I have to turn the speakers up to hear the reader who seems as though he is about to go to nod off. If you need to get to sleep, put it on .... works better than a pill!

  • The Christmas Train

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By David Baldacci
    • Narrated By Tim Matheson

Disillusioned journalist Tom Langdon must get from Washington to L.A. in time for Christmas. Forced to take the train across the country because of a slight "misunderstanding" at airport security, he begins a journey of self-discovery and rude awakenings, mysterious goings-on and thrilling adventures, screwball escapades and holiday magic.

Carol L. Riegel says: "Great Book"
    "The Christmas Train"

Very funny and fast paced. Not a Christmas story for the kiddies, but a hilarous read for adults.
