Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

    "Excellent Book"
    Overall

If you're from the UK and can look past aliens being called 'Buggers' then I can't reccomend this book highly enough. It's a well written and well paced. The Narration is excellent which can make all the difference between a good and a bad audiobook.

It's the best audiobook I've listened to.

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

    Overall

The book is well written. The narration is first rate. The characters were interesting.

Despite all this there wasn't enough going on in the story to hold my interest. After reading glowing reviews of this book I thought it would be a real page turner. I was mistaken. I struggled to get through this and wouldn't reccomend it.

Frank Poole died in the year AD 2001 en route to Jupiter's moons. In AD 3001 his perfectly preserved body is retrieved and revived thanks to medical and electro-optical technologies. Thus Frank becomes a telepathic, machine-assisted inhabitant of the first years of the fourth millennium. He's got a lot to learn, and some unfinished business on the moon Europa.

Kevin Christy says: "Interesting, but not particularly engaging"
    "Disappointing"
    Overall

I liked some of Clarkes ideas about life in 3001 but the book as a whole just seemed to go nowhere.

I cared nothing for the characters and the ending was badly thought through and very disappointing.

Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

I could only get through about a third of this book. I had to force myslef through every chapter. It's just so slow. I also thought the Narrators Indian accent was trerrible.

All in all a big disappointment.
