Dr. Morgan Snow is a well-known sex therapist who is treating Cleo Thane, a beautiful business owner...and prostitute. Cleo caters to the wealthy and powerful and after delivering a tell-all manuscript to Dr. Snow, she disappears. A serial killer is murdering street hookers and using the book, Morgan desperately searches for clues to stop the killer before Cleo becomes his next victim.

A great story, with characters who draw you right into their story: a sex psychologist who has a complicated personal life; a high-class prostitute who is her patient and goes missing; a detective on the case and trying to stop a serial killer in his tracks; and many side characters who add to the story. I listened to it as an audiobook and could not stop listening as this thriller unraveled. The voice actors were phenomenal as well; some of the best I've heard. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, though I may take a little break, as it is a little intense, haha.

Over the course of a steamy and tense afternoon, 12 jurors deliberate the fate of a 19-year-old boy alleged to have murdered his own father. A seemingly open and shut case turns complicated, igniting passions and hidden prejudices.

Wow. Wow, wow, wow, What a powerful - and actually still very relevant - book, more than 60 years after it was first published. I had known the overall premise for years, but I loved hearing the fallacies, motivations, personalities, and nuances that these 12 jurymen brought into this deliberation. I listened to it as a audiobook, but I will be buying this and re-reading it often. It's one of those books everyone should read, if only to remember the beauty and flaws innate to the "trial by one's peers" process. Audiobook narrated by Dan Castellaneta, Hector Elizondo, Armin Shimerman, and others.

A BBC Radio six-part adaptation of Neil Gaiman's best-selling novel, starring James McAvoy as Richard and Natalie Dormer as Door. Beneath the streets of London there is another London. A subterranean labyrinth of sewers and abandoned tube stations. A somewhere that is Neverwhere....

A brilliant story about "Lower London", an alternate world with some magical elements located under the London we know and love, and a guy who accidentally gets stuck in it. The characters were interesting, the story turned out to be much different than I thought it would be, and I actually will be looking to see if there are other books taking place in this world Gaiman created. BONUS: I think I enjoyed this story infinitely more because of the fantastic cast in the audobook, which included Christopher Lee, James McAvoy, Natalie Dormer, David Harewood, Sophie Okonedo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Head - and others. I think it's considered a dramatization actually, since they included sound effects like footsteps, etc. That took a little getting used to, to be honest, but I loved it. I recommend this book in audiobook form to everyone.

The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Oh man…it's rare that a book with so much hype lives up to it's reputation - but this book surpassed all expectation. It's not everyday that an angel, a demon, a missing antichrist, a ridiculously accurate witch, a thoroughly modern witch, a pretend witch hunter, an actual witch hunter, a hellhound-turned-toy dog, and a batty old lady can be combined into a funny, clever, and unforgettable story, but Pratchett & Gaiman make it work. I had the added benefit of experiencing this in audiobook form, narrated by Martin Jarvis - who made the numerous characters come to life with his fantastic voices. This book is an instant favorite and I recommend it to everyone.

This final play from the pen of Oscar Wilde is a stylish send-up of Victorian courtship and manners, complete with assumed names, mistaken lovers, and a lost handbag. Jack and Algernon are best friends, both wooing ladies who think their names are Ernest, "that name which inspires absolute confidence." Wilde's effervescent wit, scathing social satire, and high farce make this one of the most cherished plays in the English language.

Interesting story, funny characters, and timeless, witty one-liners that had me laughing out loud made this very short play an enjoyable book to experience, particularly as an audiobook. Will be checking out Wilde's other works asap!

Just after midnight, the famous Orient Express is stopped in its tracks by a snowdrift. By morning, the millionaire Samuel Edward Ratchett lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. One of his fellow passengers must be the murderer. Isolated by the storm, detective Hercule Poirot must find the killer among a dozen of the dead man's enemies, before the murderer decides to strike again....

Excellent book! Can see why this has gone down as a classic not to be missed, with it's diverse characters, seemingly-simple-yet-intricate mystery, and the fun peculiarities of Hercule Poirot. Listened to the audiobook on a roadtrip with my easily bored 17-year-old sister and even she was riveted. Highly recommended, particularly to fans of the Sherlock Holmes novels.

As a child, Landon Lucas Maxfield believed his life was perfect and looked forward to a future filled with promise - until tragedy tore his family apart and made him doubt everything he ever believed. All he wanted was to leave the past behind. When he met Jacqueline Wallace, his desire to be everything she needed came so easy.… As easy as it could be for a man who learned that the soul is breakable and that everything you hoped for could be ripped away in a heartbeat.

Enjoyed this book, which is essentially the story of "Easy" by Tammara Webber, but from Lucas' perspective. He was what made me enjoy the book "Easy" so much and it was great getting to see his perspective and find out more about his tragic backstory. However, the interactions between him and Jackie were abbreviated and almost sidelined, as I'm guessing the author assumes we would have already read them in "Easy"? Either way, I'm glad I got to find out more about one of the most interesting guy characters I've read in a while!

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grown dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war. Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages - not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color.

This is one of the best books I've read (er...listened to) in a while. Quirky-yet-not-stereotypical heroine, supernatural creatures (including angels, which are always a favorite), magical elements, amazing world building (with the bonus of centering around Prague, which led to awesome accents on the audiobook!) - I could go on. I was captivated from the beginning, finding out about Karou and her mysterious past, as she finds out herself, as well as discovering how magic works in this world. Though some things are initially confusing and others left unexplained, I was captivated enough to immediately purchase the second one and pre-order the third (out next week). I cannot wait to see where this story goes and hope the other books live up to the expectations I've gained from this one!

(Audiobook specific: Hvam is one of the best narrators I've listened to on Audible and may have slightly increased my rating of the book; I am actually scoping out other books she's narrated to listen to more of her work!)

A fun take on classic fairy-tale characters stuck in modern times. I would say that this is a children's book, though as an adult, even I didn't recognize some of the original fairy tales referenced. Also the narrator's performance was great with all the different characters. I overall enjoyed it, though I don't think I'd read/listen to the others unless I was reading them to/with kids.

Cassie Wright, porn priestess, intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication. On camera. With 600 men. Snuff unfolds from the perspectives of Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Mr. 600, who await their turn on camera in a very crowded green room. This wild, lethally funny, and thoroughly researched novel brings the huge yet underacknowledged presence of pornography in contemporary life into the realm of literary fiction at last. Who else but Chuck Palahniuk would dare do such a thing? Who else could do it so well, so unflinchingly, and with such an incendiary (you might say) climax?

    Story

The best part about this book was the hilarious crazy pun names of the porn films Cassie Wright had filmed. Other than that, I felt like this story dragged on unnecessarily. Also, the Audible audiobook was strangely formatted, with no pauses between the chapters or any attempt at using different voices for the characters. Alas.
