Sir Ian McKellen, fresh from his performance as Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, is Prospero, and heads a strong cast in Shakespeare’s last great play. The wronged duke raises a tempest to shipwreck his old opponents on his island so that he can ensure justice is done. With Emilia Fox as Miranda, Scott Handy in the pivotal role of the sprite Ariel, and Ben Owukwe as Caliban.

Wow this helps so much!! So many of the characters get lost to most I think because of the time period but this helps answer so many questions and asks the right ones too to help you think and understand the Inferno. I'm so glad I read this after reading Divine Comedy and am going to re- read the Inferno again now.

This CliffsNotes study guide on George Orwell's 1984 supplements the original literary work, giving you background information about the author, an introduction to the work, a graphical character map, critical commentaries, expanded glossaries, and a comprehensive index, all for you to use as an educational tool that will allow you to better understand the work. This study guide was written with the assumption that you have read 1984. Reading a literary work doesn’t mean that you immediately grasp the major themes and devices used by the author....

I'm not in school but this is a great way to get more to the story than the book. It gives historical references about the author, it breaks down the chapters and explains the literary composition and symbolism. I thought it was a great help to understanding 1984.

Sixteenth-century Spanish gentleman Don Quixote, fed by his own delusional fantasies, takes to the road in search of chivalrous adventures. But his quest leads to more trouble than triumph. At once humorous, romantic, and sad, Don Quixote is a literary landmark. This fresh edition, by award-winning translator Edith Grossman, brings the tale to life as never before.

I just found myself drifting off at times. It gets a little bit long and drags on in the middle of each book. I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to someone into the classics.

Set amid the riot, intrigue, and pageantry of medieval Paris, Victor Hugo's masterful tale of heroism and adventure has been a perennial favorite since its first publication in 1831. It is the story of Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of the Notre Dame Cathedral, who falls in love with the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda. When Esmeralda is condemned as a witch by Claude Frollo, the tormented archdeacon who lusts after her, Quasimodo attempts to save her; but his intentions are misunderstood.

Performed really well. The author wanted to make sure you had a portrait of Paris in the 1480's and does a great (and sometimes long) job describing buildings, people, attitude and mentality of Paris and it's people.

This unique poetic translation by Herbert A. Kenny, historian and poet, is the first that incorporates the Biblical, theological and historical allusions of the greatest poem im Christendom into the text itself. It can now be appreciated without a glossary or accompanying notes. Listen as the liquid lines take you through the horrors of the "Inferno", the mysteries of "Purgatorio" and the glories of "Paradiso".

The American pianist Jonathan Biss is known to audiences throughout the world for his artistry, musical intelligence, and deeply felt interpretations. What is less known until now is that Jonathan Biss writes about music in a most compelling and engaging way. For anyone who has ever enjoyed a Beethoven concert or a Beethoven recording, or one of the many films about Beethoven, this audiobook is an inspiring listening experience.

As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

You get so much more from the book,.. the back stories, verbal discriptions, more character building. It's a long book but I couldn't put it down. I've learned that the show is pretty true to the book but the book just clears up so many questions that you have in your head. Defo a must read if you're a fan.

An American classic, Ben-Hur is both a vivid historical epic and the powerful story of one man's spiritual journey from slavery to vengeance to redemption. Born the son of a Jewish nobleman, Ben-Hur is condemned to the galleys for life for accidentally dislodging a piece of tile that falls on the Roman procurator. He is betrayed by his best friend, manages to escape his imprisonment, and gains revenge and glory before the cheering multitudes in the chariot races at the Roman circus in Antioch.

I loved this. It's a great period piece painting a wonderful picture of what life was like back in Jesus' days. Great story, great action, great portrait of a time. Not a religious book but def takes place during and has Jesus in as a character.
