"Fascinating Information, helped me lose 10 pounds."
Excelent book!!!
Provides a better understand of food and sugar's impact on the body. Anyone having difficulty losing weight, or having health issues should read this book.
Most important issue of our generation!!!
"Amazing. An incredible important book"
Excellent historical, and informational book. On the top of my list.
The ramifications of the inventions. Both destruction in the form of weapons, and live giving in the form of fertilizer.
Several
No. But it is very interesting
"REQUIRED READING FOR EVERYONE"
I recently saw the author doing a spot on a news show promoting the book. When I saw the title I was kind of put off, however, he does not dwell on his father's death rather uses it as an example of our failing health care system.
First you do not have to be a scholar to understand this book. It is written so everyone can benefit. The book is honest and thoughful. It gives excellent clarity to an incredible complicated issue.
It is an excellent primer for anyone seeking to understand the reason health care is so very expensive and why so many reforms including the Affordable Care Act, are destined to fail because they do not provide the correct incentives.
The author also provides ideas for correcting the issue as well.
The narration is clean and crisp. I was able to listen to it at 2x speed on my phone and it was excellent
"Keeps you guessing with a good storyline."
The third book of the Jack Reacher series begins to flesh out the character a bit more and provides some 3rd person narrative, instead of the 1st person (Jack Reacher) perspective alone.
It is a good suspenseful novel I do wish a few paragraphs at the end of the book could have resolved the fates of some of the secondary characters.
But overall it is an excellent addition to the series.
"Plodding, overly descriptive, and very British"
I was eagerly anticipating this novel from Ms. Rowling and purchased it as soon as it was released. Though after what I thought was 5 hours I look at my player and see only an hour has passed I was so bored it was disappointing.
The narrator is Tom Hollander is a great actor and I am fond of his works (a hidden gem is a Ridley Scott film titled, A Good Year with Russell Crowe and Marion Cottilard). .
It is a very adult novel (language), not for children or readers of her previous series.
Maybe it will grow on me, but I fear it may not.
Honestly, this is really only the third original work for the author. Yes she had seven plus wonderful books but they were a series and an set of short stories.
She is amazingly descriptive of people and locations and I do look forward to future works from her as she continues to grow as an author.
"Enlightening. Amazing, Great Narration"
I have been waiting for this book to come out on audio since I saw the author's on TV promoting it.
WWII has always fascinated me and I have always wondered how quickly after the attack on Pearl Harbor the U.S. was able to convert its factories to producing the materials needed for war. The surprising fact I learned from this book was planes, ships, tanks, and guns were already being produced and production was on the upswing.
Yes I will be listening to this book several times. Today we have no clue how primitive our factories were and how long it took to retool machines. It took the foresight of a few political leaders to start early to save Britain by getting the best individuals (regardless of party affiliations) and ask them to serve (for no salary).
This book is great for WWII enthusiasts and business historians. It illustrates what can be done when there is a will to do it.
A fascinating miss link in the annals of WWII literature.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
It is a straight read for the most part but the narrator is outstanding.
"Bedtime will never be the same!!!"
The Bedtime Story. When you have had a little too much of the kids this short story is just what you need to release your frustrations. This is a very short audio but Samuel L. Jackson is pitch perfect and delivers the "f" word like few can.
Never for children!!!
"The most important book fo the decade."
The clear and frank approach to an extremely important and controversial subject.
How we are all affected by the military industrial complex, and how by challenging it make us enemies of the state.
A clear and compelling argument.
"An Historical Novel For Men!!!"
You would not think that a character driven historical novel would appeal to men, this one truly does. The narrator I listen to is Patrick Tull, he performs all 20 unabridged books in this series and is unbelievable.
It is hard for us living in the 21st century to conceive of life 20 years ago let alone 200 years ago. Where information did not travel at the speed of light rather the speed of the wind and sea.
The language and references to sex is definitely PG-13 with the F word used at least once per book. It is not used carelessly, just in the coarse of the story.
This book introduces us to the main characters of a 20 book series that takes us on journeys and missions around the world. These characters are real with their various personal flaws, i.e. The captain cannot manage his fortune, and the doctor whom moves from one addiction to another.
After listening to the entire series I love the first pages of the first book. The near catastrophic meeting of the two characters and the friendship that ensues.
