...but seriously? The way the voices are read, the characters seem so dim-witted, and well, stupid. I normally enjoy 'depressing' stories of flawed families, but I am finding myself frustrated with this one. This is my 1st Anne Tyler book. I agree with other reviewers that it is difficult to like anyone. I wonder if I was reading it in print if I would enjoy it more, but the slow, confused way some of the characters talk.... argh! I had to force myself to finish it.
Joshilyn Jackson rocks. Suspense, romance, and real characters. I like how she describes the characters thoughts & feelings in such detail- I like to feel like I know the characters. Really enjoyed this listen- I found myself trying to find more 'chores' to do so I could listen. Hated to see it end!
Everything! She knew exactly what the characters were 'thinking' and how they would sound, so they were portrayed exactly as she intended.
Joshilyn Jackson's books bring you into the story... I found I was wondering 'what was going on' when I wasn't listening. I don't want them to end. The stories are intriguing and the plot twists are perfect. This book doesn't disappoint.
