Sometimes I feel like I have walked into the middle of a movie. Maybe I can make my own movie. The film will be the story of my life. No, not my life, but of this experience. I'll call it what the lady who is the prosecutor called me: Monster.

I loved the play written and acted out as a play. Very dramatic, and it made me think like a filmmaker.

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

I learned that leadership begins with the way I look at myself and view others. It is important to start there, then consider the view.

David Novak, one of today's most engaging, unconventional, and successful business leaders, lived in 32 trailer parks in 23 states by the time he reached the seventh grade. He sold encyclopedias door to door, worked as a hotel night clerk, and took a job as a $7,200-a-year advertising copywriter with the hopes of maybe one day becoming a creative director. Instead, he became head of the world's largest restaurant company at the ripe old age of 47.

David Novak has done a wonderful job of distilling his lessons learned and sharing them with us. The book is an easy listening text and story. I like the short chapters with meaningful titles that help me to know what is coming.

Now, to break through the clutter in my situation...
