Tall, lean and headstrong, FBI agent Kilraven lives by his own rules. And one of those rules includes keeping his hands off Jacobsville’s resident sweetheart, Winnie Sinclair, no matter the temptation. Shy and innocent, Winnie couldn’t handle a man like him – a merciless man with a haunted past. And this small town may hold not only the woman he fights to resist, but the answers to a cold case that is very personal to Kilraven.

"Great fit for character and narrator."

If you have ever seen a movie trailer and then watched the movie and realized all the good bits were in the trailer, then that's kind of like this book. I loved the characters and the plot was good but all the really good interaction with these characters seemed to be in the previous books leading up to this book. It just seemed to all happen but with no real fizz for me.
However having said all that I own the hardcover and the audio book and the kindle version because I really do like the book as a whole and it is on my keeper list. The best part of the book is the narrator. He does a fabulous job and manages to have just the right tones of voice for the funny, serious, sexy and menacing parts. Go ahead and buy it and enjoy it, I did.

Lady Taylor Stapleton's world was crumbling. She had been betrayed and publicly humiliated by her fiance. Now, with the help of her beloved grandmother, Lady Ester, Taylor is about to pull off the shocker of the season. Taylor agrees to marry handsome American Lucas Ross, a rugged, independent American, and together they plan to leave England behind forever. Once they get to America, they will go their separate ways - Taylor to Boston, Lucas to his Montana ranch - or so they believe.

I sandwich disappointing with good because like a good movie you will watch over again so are Garwood's books great rereads. However she usually has a back story going on and this is the part that is abridged out of this book. Loving how the characters play off one another makes Garwood's books fantastic, removing that part makes it just a nice listen. I found myself filling in the parts left out, so it was disappointing (to a die hard Garwood fan). If you aren't familiar with Garwood's work you will love this audio book because it is good, but when you read the book in its unabridged version it's fantastic. I still purchased the audio book!
