I was a bit concerned when I read some reviews indicating that the book was long, the story slow in building and that the narrator's voice was hard to understand.
I was pleased to find that I quickly be came engrossed in the story. The narrator was easy to listen to and added emotion to the story. The story does build slowly as do all good stories. Because of the time taken to build the imagery of the characters you become involved with the story.
I finished the book in 3 days. It was hard to put it down. I intend to listen to the next book in the series.
If you miss old movies which were over 2hrs long then you will enjoy this novel. If you enjoy fast action pack stories you could become bored. I hope Merlin in the next book has a happier life than some interpretation of Merlin that I have read. I hope this review was of help.
I love convoluted tongue in cheek, satirical British humor. I found this novel hard to follow. It started slowly, leaving you with a feeling that you did not know where you were in the story. The narrator spoke too quickly at times and in the beginning he would speak very softly as he ended sentences and it was hard to hear what he was saying. This detracted from the story. After 4 hours in to the story it begins to make sense and in the end it is quite interesting. I never once felt like putting it down. I wanted to know what the heck was happening. If you want a brain teaser then it is worth a read.
