A successful lawyer and loving mother, Nina Bloom would do anything to protect the life she's built in New York - including lying to everyone, even her daughter, about her past. But when an innocent man is framed for murder, she knows that she can't let him pay for the real killer's crimes.

Just when you think you have it all figured out, it takes another twist & turn. It was hard to get on with life once I downloaded this book. I wanted to listen all day. It took me some time to get used to the music & sound effects but (Elaina Davis) did a pretty good job. Great summer read!!

Would you rather know a truth that makes you feel hopeless, or keep believing the lies? Beloved and bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with the spellbinding story of two young people with devastating pasts who embark on a passionate, intriguing journey to discover the lessons of life, love, trust--and above all, the healing power that only truth can bring.

OMG!!! I picked it for the price and FELL HEAD OVER HEALS IN LOVE with the story!!!!! I am so glad there is a follow up book because I was MOURNING the fact that this book had ended. I'm not normally a fan of these types of books but HOOVER has turned me into a true blue fan! I had a hard time getting past the first half of the book and probably would not have picked it if I knew about the dark subject matter but in the end, I am so glad I didn't read the spoiler alerts and had no idea what I was getting myself into because although the story contained uncomfortable subject matter the characters overpowered the pain and made you want to BE THEM JUST TO BE IN LOVE LIKE THAT .
I didn't want it to end and am so elated that I get to take another wild, romantic, heartbreaking, surprising, amazing, ride with these two!!! Words really can't describe and do this book justice - you just have to take a chance and read it.

I read this book without knowing what it was about (no spoiler alert here) and was NOT disappointed. I have read every Jennifer Weiner book and can honestly say she is getting better and better in her writing. The narraters were great too! Their voices matched what I imagined the characters would be like.
This book was nothing complicated - just a good solid read. Was actually bummed when I finished because I MISSED it! Have been thinking about it every since.

Set in New York City in 1938, Rules of Civility tells the story of a watershed year in the life of an uncompromising 25-year-old named Katey Kontent. Armed with little more than a formidable intellect, a bracing wit, and her own brand of cool nerve, Katey embarks on a journey from a Wall Street secretarial pool through the upper echelons of New York society in search of a brighter future.

I would not recommend this book. I HAD high hopes & stuck with it but it was very painful to do so. It took a very long time to get to the point. In the end, I was disappointed. The extra star is for the job the narrator did.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

    Overall

This was my very 1st Audible download and I must say, what a chore it was to keep up with! There are so many names to remember and the accents were hard to distinguish between but I hung in there and overall thought it was a great book. I will not read the rest of the series because it's a little intense for my taste. I prefer a little LESS reality! **I recommend watching the Swedish version of the movie afterward - it has a lot less static and unnecessary information.
