Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense pro who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, to defend clients at the bottom of the legal food chain. It's no wonder that he is despised by cops, prosecutors, and even some of his own clients. But an investigator is murdered for getting too close to the truth and Haller quickly discovers that his search for innocence has taken him face to face with a kind of evil as pure as a flame.

Steven says: "Great Legal Thriller, Great Reader"
    "Great reader"
    Overall

We just returned from a 10.5 hour car trip and we had to listen to the last 30 minutes in the house as we could not wait to hear how it ended. A good story and the reader was excellent.

  • The Graveyard Book

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 47 mins)

Why we think it’s a great listen: Gaiman’s not just an award-winning author, but a narrator who earns rave reviews – and fields requests from other authors to perform their books, too! Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead....

Guillermo says: "Masterful Fantasy for the Jaded Heart"
"Once you get past the ghouls"

Started it on a long car ride, but lost interest when the ghouls showed up. Picked it up again and it was ok is small doses. More for kids that us big folks, but story was interesting.

When John Sutter's aristocratic wife killed her mafia don lover, John left America and set out in his sailboat on a three-year journey around the world, eventually settling in London. Now, 10 years later, he has come home to the Gold Coast, that stretch of land on the North Shore of Long Island that once held the greatest concentration of wealth and power in America, to attend the imminent funeral of an old family servant.

Andrew Stone says: "DeMille writes another excellent book!"
    "Not worth the time"
    Overall

I kept waiting for the action and for the story to pick up. It never did. I wish I had read the unabridged version, but even that would have seemed too long. Not what I expected from the author.

Rising out of the Nevada canyons, Utopia is a theme park so technologically advanced as to be awe-inspiring. But serious mishaps are starting to cause concern, and things turn from bad to worse when a group of mercenaries infiltrates the park's computerized infrastructure, holding the entire park hostage. The engineer who designed the park now must find a way to save it. "A real thrill-a-minute read," says Booklist.

Trajanrome says: "Exciting and well read"
    "A Good Quick Read"
    Overall

I am not sure I agree with all the science in the book, but I liked the setting and the fast pace. This is one book where I am not sure you lost anything with the abridgement.
