This book flows nicely, is narrated pleasantly, and contains enough good information to justify the time. It is not the definitive work on communications in relationships, but it is one more perspective that should be considered. While the author gives five approaches to better communicate with your partner, the real crux of the biscuit is that it helps you actually look at your partners wants and needs. This is one of a hundred ways to skin a cat, but it is a valid way and a good addition to your repertoire. And, a very pleasant listen.
The orginal material in Magic Bullet was an attempt to present methodology as seen by this crew of PUA's. This current imitator is piece of trash devoid of useful opinion or information not obtainable elsewhere and is more an ego piece. It appears to be an experiment in stream-of-consciousness writing without the consciousness. I dare you to listen past 30 minutes.
The abridged version does exactly what was intended- make the information digestible to those who would otherwise get stuck between the jacket cover and preface. For me, it was just the right blend to interest me enough to go for the unabridged version. The unique perspective of the author's credentialed expertise and personal involvement makes for a very enjoyable and informative listen. The narration is spot on. The book loses a point for having more women's-magazine 3rd person stories than i like, but it is a style issue, a time issue, that does not detract from the book.
Very informative and interesting. The woman's magazine style of plenty of 3rd party stories will appeal to many in giving life to the information. The price of that is time. The abridged version gives you a very good 50k foot view, and when you can linger, give this a listen. Good narration, as well. Listen to the Amen book 'Change Your Brain...' as a companion book.
The accent is charming and the material covered pretty well in layman terms. It might be considered overly long, but I think justice was done. Non-novices will recognize most of this material, but for a one-stop shop, it does very well. Individual areas are easily eclipsed elsewhere with greater depth, priority, accentuation, and with better examples perhaps. This is a 102 textbook, a bit better than back-to-basics, or perhaps a Thai-food sampler - enough but not too much. Each chapter is summarized and Cliff-noted at the end. This is a very nice listen and worth the time. By the way, you are NOT going to pick up, seduce, and hook up with hot babes by reading a book.
Think about something and you "attract" it. Yeah, you don't get something without thinking about it first, agreed. But, step two is not "Magic Happens". This book would have you think so. Nice book if you need a mental rabbit's foot. Don't take it seriously.
