Do not expect to read a comprehensive study of the Civil War. This is a collection of essays covering various topics, such as an excellent bio of Jesse James, or the way post-war Southern lobbies managed to change the contents of history textbooks dealing with the Civil War and deterred scholars from making independent search on this topic in Southern colleges.

I went through the whole Pimsleur Hebrew (1, 2 and 3) and I it is a very efficient method to unlock speaking difficulties as well as oral understanding.
However the course does not provide with sufficient grammar explanations (especially with regard to the verbs), and the reading material is too poor.
I highly recommend to start by an alef-bet and then go on with pimsleur + a book for reading skills (Ora Band or Ester Raizen are excellent to get familiar with the reading in hebrew).

An excellent introduction to a very complex and long history. We learn the state of the latest diggings and archeological hypothesis and at the same time, we always keep in mind the biblical framework.

Ancient Israel is a fascinating civilization, with fascinating and incredibly influential history, which is rather extraordinary given the small size of the state and the very short lenght of its political autonomy (compared with Egypt or Rome).

The author (David Reynolds) proposes a history of US exclusively oriented on the freedom theme. Each episode focuses on one aspect of a particular period (he does not pretend to be exhaustive), in the form of an audio documentary built with various authentics sources (such as speeches, letters, etc., read by professional actors or recorded on the radio or TV). David Reynolds clearly is a supporter of the American ideal and the whole series (volumes 1 to 3) shows a progression from freedom for some towards freedom for all. Some might not agree with his thesis, still the audiobook is wonderfully executed.
