It's Dickens so you know what to expect from the story: an incredibly well written soap opera with deep, rich and expertly developed characters.
What really stunned me was the narration by Frederick Davidson, he was brilliant! He's the best narrator I've ever heard: to put this in perspective I've listened to over 200 audio books now. This isn't to say that I don't like other narrators, I adore Jim Dale from the Harry Potter books and greatly admire several others. But after hearing this Frederick Davidson has to be my favorite for his rich and heartfelt interpretations of the characters and the way he brought every word to life!
Thank you Mr. Davidson!
I've used a number of foreign language audiobooks, and this was one of the best. On the down side It had a little too much repetition for me, and it was too short. On the upside, the lessons were presented by way of conversations that built upon themselves that was very effective.
I've tried several language programs for French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. This was one of the worst. The phrases don't stick in your mind. A string of words is thrown out in Japanese with no breakout of individual words. I found a couple of other Japanes language tapes far more helpful.
