Kyle Riggs has been away from Earth for a long time.... What’s happening back home? In Empire, the sixth book of the Star Force Series, the story moves in a new direction. Earth falls quiet, and the few reports coming out of the homeworld are increasingly strange. Isolated in the Eden system, Riggs realizes his enemies are forming an alliance against him. Crushed between two monstrous fleets, the last defenders of Star Force must forge their own alliance with the biotic aliens. But which alien race can Riggs truly trust?

What did you love best about Empire?

The creativity in Larson's writing never fails to be enjoyable!

What does Mark Boyett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mark's narration brings the story to life. His delivery becomes as much a part of the book as any of the characters.

    Any additional comments?

Love the series! Some of the aspects can get a little out there but over all I really enjoy all of it!

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

What made the experience of listening to The Name of the Wind the most enjoyable?

The versatility of the narrator coupled with the imaginative world in which he performs makes the series impossible to turn off.

What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His range and scope of performance is simply incredible. He casually performs the most incredible accents and voices for all of the characters.

I am not the typical fantasy fan. I find myself listening to more sci-fi than fantasy but will venture into the genre for "the greats" like The Song of Ice and Fire series and so on. I found this book to be just incredible to listen to and I was never bored with the story. I will be devastated to finish the series because I never want it to stop. HIGHLY recommended!

In a steel-and-lead-encased bunker 20 feet below the basement level of his house, a soldier waits for his final orders. On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The bacterium burrows through the brain, destroying all signs of humanity and leaving behind little more than base, prehistoric instincts. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. Someday soon, the soldier will have to open the hatch to his bunker, and step out into this new wasteland, to complete his mission....

So if you are like me, you scroll through tons of books with a credit burning a whole in your pocket and an insatiable appetite for a good series to begin. I want to tell you now, this series is worth it. I have read lots of sci-fi and lots of zombie thrillers, but I think this series stands out among my 100+ book library. The main character is very well written and the premise is rather satisfying. I do think he could add some more depth to a few of the periphery characters but the main character is solid! Most zombie books focus solely on developing the "cure" or on scavenging for your next meal. This series explores what would happen if a very well supplied military expert were to remain after a catastrophe to restore order in a post apocalyptic world. Lots of fun! Can't wait for the next installment!

Would you consider the audio edition of Swan Song to be better than the print version?

Haven't read it, but I felt that the narration made some of the characters sound similar and to me that stuck out. It didn't ruin the book by any means however, still a very fun listen. I kept wanting to stay up at night and listen to it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked Roland! He started as a kid with an overactive imagination and an affinity for violence and became an incredible character.

What does Tom Stechschulte bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does a good job on 90% of the characters and I think in particular, he did well on Josh's voice.

    Any additional comments?

This is a really good book and if you liked "The Stand" then you will love this book. In the beginning of the book I wish we had gotten more background behind the reasons for the military action. Also, in the middle of the book we all of the sudden jump 7 years and assume that a great deal of character development has occurred but I didn't feel as though that were true when listening to some of the story lines. However this was still a very fun listen for me and I would do it again. None of what I mentioned were more than hiccups in the story line. Definitely give this one a chance if, like me, you were captured by "The Stand" and wanted to try another similar story.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

    Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scenes were when the began to set up the free zone and listening to how they began to develop their plan to rebuild civilization. It was just very creative!

Who was the most memorable character of The Stand and why?

I think the most memorable is a tie between Nick and Tom Culins. Both were just so endearing because of their disabilities and by the end you love them as if they are family. Tom especially.

I have read/listened to hundreds of books and never has one captivated me as much as the stand. If you are like me and doing your homework on your next download, this is a MUST PURCHASE! I spend days sometimes deciding on how to spend my next credit because I love long epics and fantasy isn't for me. This book is so well rounded in its story arch and the themes are timeless. There is a gear shift that occurs in the book that I didn't expect and so that transition took some time but ultimately there is not one part of this book that shows weakness. It is by far my favorite epic (and I have read all of the RR Martin Song of Ice and Fire books). You can not go wrong with this book and you will soon be finding excuses to steal away and put in your headphones. I will probably reread this book very soon and I have never done that before. I hope that I have convinced you and that you enjoy your listen !!!!!

If you could sum up Storm Assault in three words, what would they be?

What other book might you compare Storm Assault to and why?

Storm ship troopers because it is a space military sci-fi of high caliber

What does Mark Boyett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings a certain level of dramaticism to the series that I think it needs to become the magnificent story it is

    Any additional comments?

I will say that sometimes I feel that B.V. Larson sometimes draws his characters into fairly simplistic creatures. I say this because every now and then I find myself rolling my eyes at a piece of dialogue or maybe a scenario that is a little silly because I don't feel anyone would really do that. It is rare but I do find it happening. Otherwise the series has been a lot of fun to follow from the beginning and every time I see a new installment has been released, I know where my next credit is going. Just sit back and enjoy an easy listen that is a lot of bang for your buck.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.
