  • Dark Possession: Dark Series, Book 18

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 59 mins)
    • By Christine Feehan
    • Narrated By Phil Gigante, Jane Brown

Manolito De La Cruz knew he was dangerously close to turning into a vampire. The last thing he expected after being called back to his Carpathian homeland by Prince Mikhail was to catch the scent of his destined lifemate in MaryAnn Delaney. MaryAnn is human, but she knows all too well the overwhelmingly aggressive instincts of Carpathian males.

Vicki says: "best of all the "dark" series."
    "Loved it"

first off Phil Gigante could read the phone book and i would listen to it lol.
ok i really enjoyed the story. while i have not read/listened to all of the series i have enjoyed all that i have read. unlike other reviewers, i saw no issues with the characters at all. considering their backgrounds and the "issues" they were dealing with, they were just right. yes they are different but they fit.

  • Beast Behaving Badly: Pride Series, #5

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Shelly Laurenston
    • Narrated By Charlotte Kane
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can't get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he's shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him - determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is....

    Angela says: "BIG BIG SMILE!"
    "Great Story, Bad Narration...Again"
If you could sum up Beast Behaving Badly in three words, what would they be?

    Favorite Pride Book

What did you like best about this story?

Love the characters and how Shelly Laurenston writes.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator has a tendency of emphasizing words and parts of the book that are not emphatic. . .typically nearly every word at the end of a sentence. This makes the entire narration and characters melodramatic and/or whiny. It takes away from the authors well written work. I suggest reading the book before listening to it. I fail to understand how this narrator can get such high ratings when the narration is so poor.

  • The Beast in Him: Pride, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Shelly Laurenston
    • Narrated By Charlotte Kane
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Some things are so worth waiting for. Like the moment when Jessica Ward "accidentally" bumps into Bobby Ray Smith and shows him just how far she's come since high school. Back then, Jess's gangly limbs and bruised heart turned to jelly any time Smitty's "all the better to ravish you with" body came near her. So, some things haven't changed. Except now Jess is a success on her own terms. And she can enjoy a romp - or 20 -with a big, bad wolf and walk away. Easy.

    Jordy says: "Great book!"
    "Narration is hit and miss."
What made the experience of listening to The Beast in Him the most enjoyable?

Read the story first and that helped get through the not so great narration.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Charlotte Kane?

Phil Gigante, Rosalyn Landor or Oliver Wyman. These narrators seem to grasp the emotions and characteristics of the characters and narrate appropriately. Ms. Kane's performance in this book was over the top drama instead of sarcastic, humorous and/or snarky. Her failure to grasp this lessens some of the humor in this book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Shelly Laurenstons books always make me laugh out loud but sadly this narrator losses much of the humor due to poor narration choices.

    Any additional comments?

I am a huge fan of Ms. Laurenston (and her alter G.A. Aiken) and it is disheartening that the audio book productions on ALL of her books have not embodied her characters and writing. In the end i believe the blame falls on the director and producers for not familiarizing themselves with the projects they are recording. In the end I do urge readers new to Ms. Laurenston to read the book first as the narration is lacking.

  • How to Drive a Dragon Crazy

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By G. A. Aiken
    • Narrated By Morgan Hallett
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Some things never go away, like vile enemies, bad ale, and annoying kin. But I thought I was finished with the one dragon I’d have done anything for: Éibhear the Blue, a big, gorgeous, blue-haired beast who thinks the world belongs to him. The world, and apparently, me. So if Éibhear wants to play the caring hero and travel into the most forsaken of Gods forsaken lands to protect the one woman who doesn’t need it - namely me - I’ll let him

What did you love best about How to Drive a Dragon Crazy?

The Story. It's difficult to pick it apart but as with everything Shelly Laurenston (aka G.A. Aiken) writes it was funny and engaging. For readers new to G.A Aiken please do not start with the audio books. The production quality is sub-par at best. Buy the ebook or physical paperback first.

What didn’t you like about Morgan Hallett’s performance?

Too many long pauses. Too many long pauses in the middle of a sentence. Lack of ability to identify a question mark, comma or period. I do not think the narrator is completely to blame. At some point the director or producer should have called attention to these basic errors and fixed them. I find it hard to believe that no one at all from recording to finished product addressed this. This holds true for the other G.A Aiken audio books as well. It is an injustice to an author who has given us tremendously great books to savage her audio books in such a manner. and it is an insult to the listener.

  • Naked

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 9 mins)
    • By Megan Hart
    • Narrated By Lauren Fortgang

"I didn't think he wanted me. And I wasn't about to get involved with him, not after what I'd heard. Sure, Alex Kennedy was tall, dark and unbearably hot, but I've been burned before. When I solicited him to model for my erotic photography book, I didn't expect such a heated, passionate photo session. And now that we've crossed that line, our bodies aren't the only things that have been exposed."

    Candyce says: "LOVED IT!!"
"resolution. . .can i have it?"

the book would have been great in my opinion if it finished strong and with FIRM resolution. the ending was the biggest disappointment for me because i like a HEA (Happily Ever After) at the end of my romance type books. To me it felt like the "And they lived happily ever after" was thrown on as an after thought instead of spending time writing a firm conclusion to things. the ending left me feeling that Olivia was playing the fool once again by ending up in the same situation. it would not surprise me if there was a book in the future featuring Alex and James both divorced.
