Jon Ronson is fascinated by madness, extraordinary behaviour and the human mind. He has spent his life investigating crazy events, following fascinating people and unearthing unusual stories. Collected here from various sources (including the Guardian and GQ America) are the best of his adventures.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love Jon Ronson. There is nothing he finds interesting that doesn't also interest me as well. Hearing him read the book is so soothing, and also riveting. It's like sitting with him as he tells you the most fascinating stories. The Psychopath Test was great, but this is almost more fun, as each chapter is a new story. So fun, compelling, and you just can't turn it off!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lost at Sea: The Jon Ronson Mysteries?

Wow, the story about the Disney employee who fell overboard is just riveting. Also, the story about the chapter about real life super heroes. I also really love the story about his trying to live out the adventures of James Bond. Dang it . . . I love them all.

What does Jon Ronson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love hearing him recount the stories himself. They are so personal and the conversations so interesting, and it is wonderful to imagine the inflection and emphasis of everyone's voice must have happened exactly as he reads it.

We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.

What made the experience of listening to The Sociopath Next Door the most enjoyable?

This book will help you to view and understand sociopaths in a more indepth way, help you feel empowered to deal with them (essentially AVOID them) and give you great insight into the many ways they can exist in the world. I was hooked to every word. Great narration, and great information. Don't skip this one, if you are at all interested in sociopathy! Better than Jon Ronson's Psychopath Test, but I loved that one, too.

What other book might you compare The Sociopath Next Door to and why?

Could be compared to the Psychopath Test, but it is much more straightforward and written as if you are speaking with a therapist. If you didn't like Jon Ronson's book, but you are still interested in the subject, get this one. Can't stop listening till it is done!

Have you listened to any of Shelly Frasier’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Shelly is very similar here to her narration in Stiff . . . still very easy to listen to and a wonderful reader. She doesn't take anything away from the writing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Dexter Morgan appears to be the perfect gentleman. He is handsome and polite, and has been in a relationship for nearly a year and a half. Yet appearances can be deceiving, for Dexter is a serial killer who has slain many people. But in this tale, he's the good guy, for there is one little twist: Dexter only snuffs out other murderers. When another serial killer, with an eerily similar style, starts grabbing headlines, Dexter has a fairly morbid thought. Am I being challenged?

What made the experience of listening to Darkly Dreaming Dexter the most enjoyable?

This story is so wonderfully crafted and so entertainingly creepy that it kept my attention for the full 8 hours. The writing is beautiful and insightful, and makes you really wonder about the author's state of mind that he can so eloquently describe such dark thoughts and yearnings. So enthralling!

What other book might you compare Darkly Dreaming Dexter to and why?

I've not really read anything that Darkly Dreaming Dexter is able to be compared to. The story is just so unique and different!

Frank W. Abagnale was one of the most daring conmen, forgers, imposters, and escape artists in history. In his brief but notorious criminal career, Abagnale donned a pilot's uniform and copiloted a Pan Am jet, masqueraded as the supervising resident of a hospital, practiced law without a license, passed himself off as a college sociology professor, and cashed over $2.5 million in forged checks, all before he was 21. His story is now a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

There were times that this story had me stopped in my tracks, unable to move or complete the chores I was working on because it was THAT GOOD. The exploits that he got into and the things he got away with are so freaking unbelievable that you will shake your head in disbelief. His stories are so mind blowing that I had to tell as many people as would listen about the most exciting exploits. Just a really good read and a really good narrator.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

I love Tina Fey and I think she is greatly under-appreciated by the country at large. 30 Rock is hysterical and creative and she has never been a part of anything that I thought was bad. Hearing her tell her own story is like getting to have a conversation with her. Her writing is good (and hilarious), her reading of her own writing is so fun, and she will have you running to your computer to pull up the downloadable PDF every time she mentions it. She made me laugh out loud so many times.

The Psychopath Test is a fascinating journey through the minds of madness. Jon Ronson's exploration of a potential hoax being played on the world's top neurologists takes him, unexpectedly, into the heart of the madness industry. An influential psychologist who is convinced that many important CEOs and politicians are, in fact, psychopaths teaches Ronson how to spot these high-flying individuals by looking out for little telltale verbal and nonverbal clues.

I really enjoyed Jon Ronson's book and his reading of it. His voice is easy to listen to and he really conveys the emotions of the book through his voice. I liked getting a sense of his personality through his voice as well. Everything in this book was interesting to me and I especially enjoyed when he turns the journalistic eye inwards and analyzes himself. To me, his examination of self is just as interesting as his treatment of the topic, psychopathy.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Zora Neale Hurston’s classic novel begs to be read aloud, and Ruby Dee answers the challenge with utter perfection, capturing the wide range of characters and their diverse accents with grace and power. Their Eyes Were Watching God is the luminous and haunting novel about Janie Crawford, a Southern Black woman in the 1930s, whose journey from a free-spirited girl to a woman of independence and substance has inspired writers and readers for close to 70 years.

Ruby Dee is such a wonderful narrator, I cried. She gives voices to all the characters that are distinct and recognizable and there are moments you will forget it is only one person giving the narration. Her emotion and inflection are just perfect and she brings this story to life in a way that I couldn't have imagined. Get this audiobook!!
