  • Circle of Quilters: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Jennifer Chiaverini
    • Narrated By Christina Moore
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

New York Times best-selling author Jennifer Chiaverini has charmed countless readers with her heartwarming Elm Creek Quilts novels. Like the other delightful entries in the series, Circle of Quilters offers an engaging story, endearing characters, and fascinating bits of quilting lore.

    Cathy says: "Extremely Entertaining"
    "Very good 'read'"

While this book is very different from others in this series, it introduces a whole new cast of characters in a way that involves one in their lives and want to know more about them. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next in this series.

  • The Associate: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By John Grisham
    • Narrated By Erik Singer
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Kyle McAvoy grew up in his father's small-town law office in York, Pennsylvania. He excelled in college, was elected editor-in-chief of The Yale Law Journal, and his future has limitless potential. But Kyle has a secret, a dark one, an episode from college that he has tried to forget. The secret, though, falls into the hands of the wrong people, and Kyle is forced to take a job he doesn't want, even if it's a job most law students can only dream about....

JoAnn says: "Good, but not nearly as good as The Firm""
"Where is the ending of this book?"

Did Grisham forget to write the final chapter? The book is "Great Grisham" up to the end---and then we find out there IS no end!
We have a main character who is up to his ears in alligators throughout the book, then just 'walk away' from the problem. Up to the last chapter it may resemble "the Firm", but The Firm had a great conclusion---this book just "stopped" with little resolved.
If there is not a QUICKLY released sequel, it will be obvious that John Grisham is simply filling pages and can't figure out how to end a book but still is trying to use his name for the money.

  • Long Lost

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 36 mins)
    • By Harlan Coben
    • Narrated By Steven Weber
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Myron hasn't heard from Terese Collins in years. Not since their affair ended with no explanation. There had been no contact since, so her call catches him off guard. She's in Paris, she says, in trouble, and only Myron can help. She tells him a sad story she's never before revealed: a good marriage, her struggles to get pregnant, the happiest moment of her life when her only child was born, the day everything she'd ever loved was taken from her.

Karen says: "Highly recommend/but prefer Marosz over Weber"
    "New Narrator a Major disappointment"

How can Myron Bolitar sound so 'weak' and Wynn sound like the normal 'next door neighbor' instead of our beloved 'upscale snob? And WHY is thise narrator pronouncing Terese, whom we have known for 3 books, Ter-ez. After listening to every Myron Bolitar book since the beginning, I am through with all the narrator changes. WHAT HAPPENED TO Jonathan Marosz? I will go back to Reading the books, which I love, but cannot continue to enjoy this series with all these different narrators who make characters we have known not even ATTEMPT to match the voices (or even name pronunciation)to the personalities of the characters.
A TERRIBLE DISAPPOINTMENT to longtime Audible fans of this series.

  • You've Been Warned

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By James Patterson, Howard Roughan
    • Narrated By Ilyana Kadushin
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Kristin Burns is making her way in New York City. Her photos are being considered at a major Manhattan gallery, she works by day with two wonderful children, and the man of her dreams is almost hers for keeps. But just as everything she's ever wanted is finally within reach, her life changes forever with one murderous nightmare.

    Kathleen says: "Stay Away"
    "Don't bother!"

Don't waste your time or money on this book. If James Patterson was not already a known author, it would never have found a publisher. Slow, rambling, far-fetched with an ending that says "thank goodness is over". While we've loved Patterson's early books, my husband gave up on this after 3 chapters, I struggled to the end, with the hope that--being Patterson--Surely it would get better. It did not!

  • Flush

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Carl Hiaasen
    • Narrated By Michael Welch

You know it's going to be a rough summer when you spend Father's Day visiting your dad in the local lockup.Noah's dad is sure that the owner of the Coral Queen casino boat is flushing raw sewage into the harbor, which has made taking a dip at the local beach like swimming in a toilet. He can't prove it though, and so he decides that sinking the boat will make an effective statement. Right. The boat is pumped out and back in business within days and Noah's dad is stuck in the clink.

Book reader says: "Adequate, but something's missing"
    "A real disappointment"

Having read Double Whammy, Tourist Season and Skinny Dip, I did not think it possible that I would dislike one of this author's books enough to stop midway through.
Mainly, the narrator is terrible, gives no depth or personality to the characters, and even when the plot presents a few of the "crazy charactors' Hiaason is known for, they are read dryly.
This book is read in an almost monotone and I can't say whether the book could be good---but this version is Definitely NOT.

  • The Note

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 37 mins)
    • By Angela Elwell Hunt
    • Narrated By Christina Moore

When an advice columnist is given a note written just before a fatal airliner crash, her search for the intended recipient carries her on a journey of faith, hope, and forgiveness.

    Sandra says: "Excellent and touching"
    "Excellent and touching"

I didn't expect to really enjoy this book---I had ordered it in error! However, once I started listening, I could not stop until the end. I normally like books where there is are characters I can 'like' and 'root for' immediately and that was not the case here. But that turned out to be one of the best parts of this novel....seeing the growth and discovering the reasons behind the personalities. The twist at the end brought not only surprise, but a book I won't forget.
