  • The Lost Gospel of Judas Iscariot: A New Look at the Betrayer and Betrayed

Lost for nearly 1,700 years, newly restored and authenticated, the Gospel of Judas presents a very different view of the relationship between Jesus and Judas. Rather than paint Judas as a traitor, it portrays him as acting at Jesus' request.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Only those interested in a research of the subject

    Any additional comments?

I was expecting more of the content of the manuscript. It wasn't quite what I was expecting. I was expecting more of a story book, like the one Taylor Caldwell did with the subject, in her book, "I Judas". However, it was an interesting study and kept me interested to the end. Biblical scholars will enjoy this comparative study.

Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells, taken without her knowledge, became one of the most important tools in medicine. The first immortal human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than 60 years.

Would you listen to The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks again? Why?

Yes.... a lot of information to absorb.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The family..... I was surprised at the impact this action had on the family. I wouldn't have thought of that.

Have you listened to any of Cassandra Campbell and Bahni Turpin ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

When I bought this book, I was reluctant, because of the subject matter of DNA. I had listened to the hours of testimony in the O.J. Simpson trial, and thought it was going to be very boring. However, this book is more the story of the travels and uses of this woman's DNA and the effect it had and has on her family. This one really caught me by surprise and I loved every page of this story. Well written, and well read. Loved it. Will definitely listen to this one again.

Would you listen to Bag of Bones again? Why?

Absolutely. I loved this book. I am sure there are things I have missed listening to this book, as there are always interruptions, and old faltering brain cells at work.

What about Stephen King’s performance did you like?

He knew the characters and made sure you did as well. Great listen.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I couldn't believe he would leave the child alone in the house and go to the studio. Seemed totally out of character. Ticked me right off.

    Any additional comments?

Couldn't wait to phone the readers in my family. 2 of them are avid listeners to audio books, and we can have a great chat at Christmas over this book. Loved it.
