This course addresses some of the eternal questions that man has grappled with since the beginning of time. What is good? What is bad? Why is justice important? Why is it better to be good and just than it is to be bad and unjust? Most human beings have the faculty to discern between right and wrong, good and bad behavior, and to make judgments over what is just and what is unjust. But why are ethics important to us?

I loved this audiobook. Yes, it could be construed as religiously biased, but Professor Kreeft tells you his position from the get go. If you do not believe in metaphysics; i.e., God, The Spirit in the Sky, take what you can from the book. It has much more to offer. I listened to it in preparation for Ethics in college. His chapter on Plato's The Republic is an excellent way to prepare for The Allegory of the Cave.

I am glad I did not listen to the negative reviews. I have listended to more than a 124 books and have come to know when a narrator is not a good one. I have to disagree with many of the reviewers; David Case was wonderful. I could not stop listening, and this book is 48 hours long. I thought of the Shogun mini series, and as I listended to his reading, I imagined I was listening to Toshiro Mifune as Lord Toronaga, Richard Chamberlain as the Anjin San, and Yoko Shimada as the Lady Toda Buntaro-Mariko. I have to admit that I love Japanese novels; therefore, I allowed myself a little bias. Notwithstanding, I could not have listened to such a long novel if the narration was as poor as previously mentioned in other reviews. Please give yourself a chance if this is your genre, and enjoy this delightful book. Once you're done with this audiobook, may I suggest Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. The origin of the geisha is mentioned in Shogun, and whether true or not, both books give great insight into Japanese thought.

The publication of a new translation by Fagles is a literary event. His translations of both the Iliad and Odyssey have sold hundreds of thousands of copies and have become the standard translations of our era. Now, with this stunning modern verse translation, Fagles has reintroduced Virgil's Aeneid to a whole new generation, and completed the classical triptych at the heart of Western civilization.

I thought listening to this book would be as interesting as listening to The Iliad, The Odyssey, or Dante's Inferno, but boy was I mistaken. I haven't read this novel, but if it is a great book, this narrator kills it. I was bored to death. I could not finish the audiobook. I am pretty fair, and try to give every audiobook the benefit of the doubt, but I could not.

The famous Middle English poem by an anonymous Northern England poet is beautifully translated by fellow poet Simon Armitage in this edition. "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" narrates in crystalline verse the strange tale of a green knight who rudely interrupts the Round Table festivities one Yuletide, casting a pall of unease over the company and challenging one of their number to a wager.

Uncle Tom's Cabin opens with a Kentucky farmer named Arthur Shelby facing the loss of his farm because of debts. Even though he and his wife, Emily Shelby, believe that they have a benevolent relationship with their slaves, Shelby decides to raise the needed funds by selling two of them - Uncle Tom, a middle-aged man with a wife and children, and Harry, the son of Emily Shelby's maid Eliza - to a slave trader.

I was hesitant to listen to this classic due to its duration, but I was sold by the excellent reviews Richard Allen, its narrator, obtained. Wow! This narrator is arguably the best I've heard, and I have listened to many books. The combination of Uncle Tom's plight, the inspiration that led to its writing, and Richard Allen's reading make this an excellent novel. You won't be disappointed.

What can be said about this classic? Well, I fell in love with this book. It captivated my attention from the beginning, and held it throughout. I hope, like me, you'll fall in love with Fitzwilliam Darcy and Miss Eliza Bennet. I've listened to this audiobook countless times. I've seen the mini-series with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy; I've read the novel as well. Not to forget, Flo Gibson's wonderful narration. There's another Pride and Prejudice by another narrator here also. I've not listened to that one, but listen to both previews, and choose the one that makes you happy. Point being, listen to this wonderful novel. I absolutely love it!!

In this primer of apologetic thought, Dr. Sproul affirms four logical principles that are necessary for all real discussion and teaches you how to defend your faith in a faithless world. Using the writings of church fathers and philosophers throughout the ages, he uncovers the common ideologies that work against faith. The defense of the faith is not a luxury or an intellectual vanity. It is a task appointed by God that you should be able to give a reason for the hope that is in you as you bear witness before the world.

The Trial and the Death of Socrates remains a powerful document not least because it gives a first-hand account of the end of one of the greatest figures in history.

In Apology, Socrates defends himself before the Athenian court against charges of corrupting youth. Phaedo is the account by a young man of the actual last words and moments of Socrates.

A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

Excellent audiobook. C.S. Lewis is reportedly one of the best Christian apologetics of the 20th century. Interestingly, the preface talks about how he came about the idea of how infernal spirits think. I thought it was original, but in Milton's Paradise Lost, that author does the same. I've listened to this book countless times. Awesome listen. The narrator speaks with an English accent, and I find myself envisioning C.S. Lewis reading it to me.
