For years, Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch have ridden roughshod over rabble-rousers and gun hands in troubled towns like Appaloosa, Resolution, and Brimstone. Now, newly appointed as territorial marshalls, they find themselves traveling by train through the Indian Territories.

I was really pleased with' Ironhorse.' Robert Knott picks up the threads of Cole and Hitch's story and does a fine job. Parker fans that are nervous about the new writers taking over the established characters will be glad to know that Mr. Knott was a great choice for this series. Titus Welliver brings the characters and action to life with his usual flair. I can't imagine listening to anyone else reading the "Appaloosa" books.

Five days after Owen Zastava Pitt pushed his insufferable boss out of a 14th story window, he woke up in the hospital with a scarred face, an unbelievable memory, and a job offer. It turns out that monsters are real. All the things from myth, legend, and B-movies are out there, waiting in the shadows. Some of them are evil, and some are just hungry. Monster Hunter International is the premier eradication company in the business. And now Owen is their newest recruit.

Larry Correia has become one of my favorite writers because of his Monster Hunter International and Warbound series. I can't recommend them highly enough. Great characters, good pacing, interesting storylines, there's just so much to enjoy. The narrators, Oliver Wyman for MHI and Bronson Pinchot for Warbound, are really excellent and make the series come alive.

After hunting down the notorious desperado Alejandro Vasquez, Territorial Marshal Virgil Cole and Deputy Everett Hitch return him to San Cristóbal to stand trial. No sooner do they remand him into custody than a major bank robbery occurs and the lawmen find themselves tasked with another job: investigating the robbery of the Comstock Bank, recovering the loot, and bringing the criminals to justice.

Great book, true to the characters. Having such a difference in narration was very jarring for me. If I had realized that Titus Welliver wasn't the reader for this book I would have opted for a printed copy. It really makes the book less appealing.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

This was not what I was expecting and I was very pleased. Great characters an dialogues, a good fast moving story. Bronson Pinchot surprised me and is now one of my favorite narrators. If you like noir, thrillers, interesting magic systems, and slightly alternate universes you will adore this series.

This was the first book of Nora Roberts for me that wasn't from her Eve Dallas series. It was a good choice! The characters are very well rounded and interesting and the story was quite good. I was sort of expecting a lot of romance novel cliches and was happy to find an interesting original story. Patricia Daniels does a fine job reading the book.

Twelve-year-old Crispin has lived on the streets since he was nine — with only his wits and his daring to sustain him, and only his silent dog, Harley, to call his friend. He is always on the move, never lingering in any one place long enough to risk being discovered. Still, there are certain places he returns to. In the midst of the tumultuous city, they are havens of solitude: like the hushed environs of St. Mary Salome Cemetery, a place where Crispin can feel at peace — safe, at least for a while, from the fearsome memories that plague him... and seep into his darkest nightmares.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. The reader did a good job, and the story is one of those quick-paced, don't-want-to-put-it-down books that Koontz does so well. A good blend of mystery and supernatural with well-developed characters.

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so—successfully and in secret—since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir.

I would recommend Spellbound and the other books in the Grimnoir Chronicles to anyone looking for a new, interesting series. The story is very good, the characters are memorable, and the way magic works in this universe is novel. Bronson Pinchot is an -excellent- story teller.

The "maddog" murderer who is terrorizing the Twin Cities is two things: insane and extremely intelligent. He kills for the pleasure of it and thoroughly enjoys placing elaborate obstacles to keep police befuddled. Each clever move he makes is another point of pride. But when the brilliant Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, a dedicated cop and a serial killer's worst nightmare, is brought in to take up the investigation, the maddog suddenly has an adversary worthy of his genius.

Richard Ferrone does a great job of bringing the 'Prey' books to life. 'Rules' is a very good story on its own and does a good job of setting up the characters for what evolved into a long running series. It's fast-paced, smart, and the characters are the sort you want to revisit.

Virgil's always been known for having a somewhat active, er, social life, but he's probably not going to be getting too many opportunities for that during his new case. While competing in a fishing tournament in a remote area of northern Minnesota, he gets a call from Lucas Davenport to investigate a murder at a nearby resort.

If you could sum up Rough Country in three words, what would they be?

    Intricate, interesting, entertaining

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoy the way John Sandford uses his characters. Whatever action they take always seems exactly right, they never behave out of character.

What does Eric Conger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can't imagine hearing anyone else read a Virgil Flowers book. His performance is excellent and his voices seem exactly right, even for characters I've read about in other books by Sandford.

With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover, Eric Northman, and his "child", Pam, are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot - which is much more complicated than she knows.

Would you try another book from Charlaine Harris and/or Johanna Parker?

    Absolutely

If you’ve listened to books by Charlaine Harris before, how does this one compare?

Johanna Parker is a terrific performer. She's perfect for the main character and great at the other voices. You can always tell which character is speaking just from the voice she uses.

    Any additional comments?

The reader is one of my favorites and again she delivers a terrific performance. The story itself is well written but not really a stand out Sookie novel.
