"Excelent, audible should finish the series"
I am now completely satisfied with Allison Johnson's reading of this series and have been for several books. The story is classic Weber and a wonderful story.
the downside: AUDIBLE decided to pause production of the Honor Harrington series with this book, my problem with this is this book is a cliff hanger, if audible wanted to pause the series they should have done so with the previous book as from this book on you could reasonably argue that the remaining books are really one very long book, at the very least Echoes of Honor should be done so as not to leave people hanging on a MAJOR cliff hanger
"About Time! Epic Fantasy inside"
Awesome Epic Fantasy
I love that David (The Mad Wizard Weber, or MWW) writes fantastic fantasy as well as scifi. The use of gods in this universe is very well done. The maigc systems are to MWW done in a way that is logical and has rules, you can wave a hand and destroy a world without the right tools, and magic is never used as a crutch.
The Bloody Hand is born in this novel folks, and if you are a fan of Elizabeth Moon's Fantasy you will enjoy this story
David has always said that Bahzel's accent is irish, and he hits it very well
The argument between Bahzel and Tomanik is one of my favorite parts of this story, and of course the very end but no spoilers i think
These books are alot of fun MWW has always said that these first 4 books (Oath f Swords, War God's Own, Windrider's Oath, and Warmaid's Choice[forthcoming]) are the basic backdrop on which is
"Awesome. You'll Love this"
The return of Jennifer Van Dyck as reader was a huge success.
Elizabeth's Dragon is so different then other dragons i am used to reading about and i love it.
The plot is moved along in this story quite well. This is clearly a middle book and while a few threads are wraped up in this tale most are mearly moved along and readed for book 4 and book 5
Dragon. this Dragon has a sense of humor and is clearly not what you expect
Well
The last chapter is a killer, can't say more or will spoil
Audible needs to have Jennifer Van Dyck do Kings of the North and remove that horrid other readers version quickly
"Great book, perfect continuation. Very bad Reader"
I gave the book five stars because it 100% deserves it. the story is continued seemlessly, and there are parts that nearly had me in tears. Good humor, loss, and wonderfully vivid people are all in this story.
The bad. The change of narrator can be dealt with if the original of last year was not available anymore, however the narrator chosen is extremely poor for this type of work, she does not give multiple voices to the characters. her pronunciation shows she never listened to the original narrators work or for that matter really read the book. she is a distraction and makes me wish i could ask for a refund. i ighly urge audible to redo this book with a diffrent narrator, preferably the original but bring in a woman who can give the charicter a better voice, Miss Moon has 3 more books coming in this series and if they are read by Susan Erricson i WILL NOT be purchasing them
"A good expantion on the short story"
I don't know how many realize that this book is an expansion of a short story of the same name David wrote a couple years back. solid twist on the end, a mild blending of fantasy and sf, if we get more books in this universe it will have time to unfold as to how the ending sf part works.
this is Middle range weber, not his best work far from his worst. the narrator is middle of the road nothing great but not bad too.
all over i'd call this a solid work. nothing special but solid
"WOW. Classic Weber"
a great instalment in the Honor Harrington series, or at this point the "honorverse". This book ties up a large number of loose ends as well as moving the story along to what will be its ultimate finale. David can't write fast enough for me.
you have space battles politics and all the things you love about davids writing here. enjoy
"Solid, Funny, Enthralling"
First john hits a very political note here, with high tongue in cheek fun. Its entirely possible people would be offended. To those people i would point out that this is a fiction story and the political elements are part of what makes the story work. For everyone this story is great fun! with a ton of humor, and alot of good science (disregarding the magic science of the gates)
"Excellent! perfect holiday gift"
Allison does a very good job here, she is now "honor" to me. i am very happy audible an bean got the aggrements in place to finish the series and am now working my way thru the new 6 books up, echoes was well done, ashes is coming along well too, i expect all the mainline books to be great, will see about crown and torch
"Fun, Cliff Hanger, and massive body count"
like all ringo stories this one also has a massive body count, its fast paced, and we finally see humans taking a dominant role.
on the downside like all ringo books this one just ends, basically a cliffhanger, i like that we are seeing some new races and how they interact, i also like that we start seeing some more tech appear. if you like ringo you'll like this
"Important for the Honorverse Story!"
A well told story set in the "honorverse" a must listen for all who follow the series or the next "main line" book Mission of Honor will not make alot of sense.
I want to point out to the negative reviews that this is the 14th book in the Honor Harrington Series, while marketed as a sequel to The Shadow of Saganami it is not truly a sequel, infact the author does not think of it as a sequel but as a major part in the main story.
the best i can say is, DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS WITH OUT READING?LISTENING TO THE REST OF THE SERIES
if you do not it will not make sense to you and will leave you feeling like the negative reviewers
now i do have a bit of a negative, and that is the reader. he mispronounces Manticoran as Man TIC orin. and his female voices are poorly done, should have been 2 readers 1 male, 1 female
