The science fiction classic that coined the term "time machine" and is generally credited with the popularization of the concept of time travel. A must listen for any fan of science fiction!

In the third volume of The Dark Tower, Roland, the last gunslinger, is moving ever closer to the Dark Tower that haunts his dreams and nightmares. But he is no longer alone. He has trained Eddie and Susannah, who entered Mid-World from their separate whens in New York City in The Drawing of the Three, in the old ways of the gunslingers. But their ka-tet is not yet complete.

This is the last one I own on audible and the price of the rest is kind of scary. But, I am listening to it via the library and I'm on book 7. I've loved every part including this one. Offbeat, fun and filled with many actual events in our world. I wish the series could of gone on forever. I'm not a big SK fan as I haven't read very many of his other than the tower series, wind through the keyhole (the first sk book I ever read) and 11/22/63 (the best so far). Give this series a chance but be prepared to experience something great but probably not what you expected. Keep an open mind.

Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

I got started reading sk with 11-22-63 which I loved so I decided to see if there were any more titles of his that weren't specifically horror (something I've never been a fan of) so I started this series. (After I read the "Wind through the Keyhole" book that takes place between books 4 and 5. I'm currently on book 5 and put it away for now because to be honest I can see the writing on the wall for the ending and I'm just not ready to experience it yet. With SK he is so good at painting a picture and portraying characters that you can really start to like them no matter how flawed they might be.

This is the first book in the series and it wasn't easy to get into at first as it's fairly strange (and I love Sci-fi and fantasy books) but I stuck with it and ended up liking it a lot. (I've also listened to most of his books that I have read first). Great narration with all books up to 3 and I have the rest of the series in print waiting to get over my problem with seeing characters I love die (and here I am mostly guessing about the outcome) and it's silly in the extreme of me. He writes books that are so different and absorbing that I hate to miss one now but I've run into a couple I just didn't like and couldn't get into them far enough to stick with them. So you can find a great deal of variety in his subjects and maybe find one that you'll just love.

So, I should grow up, (I'm 57) and just take his writing as it comes but sometimes he's just too good at his craft.

Once the Sith order teemed with followers. But their rivalries divided them in endless battles for supremacy - until one dark lord at last united the Sith in the quest to enslave the galaxy and exterminate the Jedi. Yet it would fall to another, far more powerful than the entire Brotherhood of Darkness, to ultimately realize the full potential of the Sith, and wield the awesome power of the dark side as never before.

I never realized how much fun being evil could be until I read this book via paperback and then I've listened to it several times and finally bought all 3 parts in hardcover. The author is very easy to read and great at the action. I liked all 3 parts but the first book will always be one of my favorite books and a classic in the making. The audio version includes sound effects which kind of threw me at first but it wasn't long before I started looking forward to them with each book. Great narration.

It's hard to come up with a criticism but the only thing I've ever balked at was how the last two parts seemed kind of rushed towards the ends of the books but if he ever came up with a part 4 I'd buy it without hesitation. So if you like Star Wars and action-oriented writing then you can't miss with this book.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, doesn’t care much for witches. Still, he’s about to make nice with the local coven by signing a mutually beneficial nonaggression treaty when suddenly the witch population in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, quadruples overnight. And the new girls are not just bad, they’re badasses with a dark history on the German side of World War II. With a fallen angel feasting on local high school students, a horde of Bacchants blowing in from Vegas, and a dangerously sexy Celtic goddess of fire vying for his attention, Atticus is having trouble scheduling the witch hunt.

The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization. But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival--a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....

You've either done it or know someone who has: the one-night stand, the familiar outcome of a night spent at a bar, sometimes the sole payoff for your friend's irritating wedding, or the only relief from a disastrous vacation. Often embarrassing and uncomfortable, occasionally outlandish, but most times just a necessary and irresistible evil, the one-night stand is a social rite as old as sex itself and as common as a bar stool.

In this wickedly honest new work, Chelsea Handler casts the net wider with even funnier results, recalling the most noteworthy highs and lows of her life to date - including her efforts to diversify by dating red-haired men, her obsession with midgets, and the dog-sitting interlude in which her boyfriend became overly familiar with a Peekapoo.

John was 15 when it began. Visions, voices, feelings, an ability to make up stories about the future that, uncannily, came true. Actually, in retrospect, he was probably much younger than that, but it wasn't until he reached his teens that he realized his abilities were extraordinary. John Edward is now a renowned psychic medium whose talents are matched by only a handful of people in the world. One Last Time is his remarkable story.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.
