Milkman Dead was born shortly after a neighborhood eccentric hurled himself off a rooftop in a vain attempt at flight. For the rest of his life he, too, will be trying to fly. With this brilliantly imagined novel, Toni Morrison transfigures the coming-of-age story as audaciously as Saul Bellow or Gabriel Garcia Marquez. As she follows Milkman from his rustbelt city to the place of his family's origins, Morrison introduces an entire cast of strivers and seeresses, liars and assassins, the inhabitants of a fully realized black world.

Years ago I read this story. Thought I would enjoy revisting an ABRIDGED version read by the Author. Ms Morrision's voice is so lovely. The edits on the story are horrible. Suddenly a man's voice interrupts the story and reads a few lines to bridge the cuts in the audio. I cannot even listen to it. Sentences don't even flow. Is there a way to get my money back on this one. Very poor Quality. Do not buy it.

Noted science writer Virginia Morell explores the frontiers of research on animal cognition and emotion, offering a surprising and moving exploration into the hearts and minds of wild and domesticated animals. Did you know that ants teach, earthworms make decisions, rats love to be tickled, and chimps grieve? Did you know that some dogs have thousand-word vocabularies and that birds practice songs in their sleep? That crows improvise tools, blue jays plan ahead, and moths remember living as caterpillars?

She launches an unofficial investigation with the help of two friends and discovers the secrets and lies behind the town's placid picket-fence facade....

In 2009, Susannah Cahalan woke up in a strange hospital room strapped to a bed, under guard, and unable to move or speak. Her medical records - from a month-long hospital stay of which she had no memory - reported psychosis, violence, and dangerous instability. Yet, only weeks earlier she had been a healthy, ambitious twenty-four-year-old, six months into her first serious relationship and a sparkling career as a cub reporter

Yes I would but I now realize she took a lot of literary license with this classic bible storey

narrator voice matched well with her character

Could you see Sinners and the Sea being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    Any additional comments?

It became a little far fetched when part of the story centered on a parasol and mammoths.

Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.
