Loved the story, but discovering that I could look at the online comic WHILE listening made for a fully immersive experience. I have often wished for images to go along with audiobooks and this has almost the whole story illustrated. FANTASTIC.

Jägermonsters are probably my favorite. All of the characters have pretty well rounded development.

Climatic scenes where Agatha's clanks come to the rescue are pretty exciting.

Often, I find the use of multiple narrators distracting but it worked flawlessly for this beautifully crafted story. The author uses an intertwining of seemingly unrelated stories to awaken something new. Most of all, the references by the main character to Helen Keller offers the listener (reader) a window into the birth of language and of consciousness itself.

Caitlin Decter is the quintessential brainy teen spitfire.

The final scenes had me excited.

The audio book had convenient places to pause and pick back up.

Can't wait to listen to the next two books.

Adult scifi mystery. (three-ish)

There is a pretty clear protagonist in Takeshi Kovacs so that one is easy. Mrs. Bancroft's character was juicy simply for contributing one of the hottest sex scenes I've come across in a while.

It wouldn't be easy to pinpoint a favorite voice from McLaren. He does a fantastic job of clearly delineating the character voices.

Would have loved to given the time.

Listen to the book before the film gets made. Who knows how an adaptation will turn out.

The Windup Girl rises near the top of my audiobook experiences.

Bacigalupi paints a post petroleum future where only bioengineered crops can grow and most edible botanicals are nearly extict. Crop engineering is the weapon of nations and multinational corporations. Picking out protagonists is difficult, but that is a function of well rounded characters as opposed to noir styled anti-heros. With the originality of his world, and the self interested players in it, I could compare Windup to the Sprawl series. However, where tecnology has erupted like cancer in the Gibson novels, it seems to have retreated for most denizens in Bacigalupi's.

The man is a chameleon. The voices are alive with individuality. Davis is amazing.

Sure. The ending is nice and tidy which I find refreshing in today's "must make a sequel" industry.

If they are looking for a light and fun action short. Then yes.

The story moved along quickly. However, I speed up narration on the Audible player on most titles so narration pace is rarely an issue.

I could see this series getting bigger. The cover art is admittedly what got me to check it out. From what I've read the author writes from the cab of a big rig tractor-trailer. Maybe truck-stops inspired her demon world.
