After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: a terrifying ability to channel electricity and to see a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude ... until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire. Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all - but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula.

This is a great expansion on the Cat and Bones world. One of the two main characters is one of my favorite minor characters from the Cat and Bones books. The book was packed with action and the female main character was extemely likeable. There were cameo appearances by Cat, Bones, Menchares, and Kira. A more in depth look at Vlad's house was a very welcome addtion to these books. Tavia Gilbert did a great job as a narrator.

This book was a quick listen, was very sweet and utterly predictable. As it was written in 1988 the references to technology was very dated but it doesn't really detract much from the story. I liked the family that the book introduces and am curious about the next books but not enough to immediately purchase the next book. The narrator was perfectly adequate and I found her voice a little sweet.

When LA’s vampires, witches, and werewolves make a mess, they call Scarlett Bernard to clean it up. Her ability as a null erases all magical traces from anything — or anyone — that comes within ten feet of her, and keeps humans in the dark about the city’s paranormal activity. One night when she’s called to a grisly crime scene, Scarlett is spied by the all-too-human LAPD cop Jesse Cruz, who strikes up a deal with her: he’ll keep quiet about the supernatural underworld if she helps him crack the case. She agrees, but the city’s chief vampire, Dash, starts to suspect Scarlett is behind the murders and will reveal all she knows of his shadowy empire. Now it’ll take more than Scarlett’s unique abilities to clear her name, keep the underworld underground, and track down the real killer.

I liked this book. It reminded me of the Gail Carriger Soulless books set in the present instead of the past. The idea of a null is very interesting. The storyline was well thought out and I enjoyed listening to the world unfold. I liked the characters and enjoyed the romantic triangle that is setting up. I hope that Melissa Olson turns this into a series. I thought Amy McFadden was a fantastic narrator. This is the first time I've listened to anything she narrated and I would definitely listen to her again.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together has been shattered. He was betrayed by Violette, someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now Violette is determined to rule over France's immortals, and she's willing to wage a war to get what she wants. It shouldn't be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he's not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

This was a great ending to a fabulous trilogy. There are enough minor threads left that I think she could definitely write more in this world but all of the major plotlines are answered. This was a new take on the zombie idea and I really enjoyed it. I liked that the two main characters can stand on their own apart from each other and aren't dependent on the other for everything. I did see the major plot twist coming but I didn't see how it came about and the way it was done really surprised me. I loved all of the characters in the whole trilogy and I liked the new ones we got to see here. I would definitely read the next thing Amy Plum writes. I thought Julia Whelan did a great job as a narrator. Her French pronunciation sounded great to me (although how would I really know) and I could always tell who was speaking. I'm a little sad that the trilogy is finished. I would like to know what happens next.

Merit, Chicago's newest vampire, is learning how to play well with others. Other supernaturals, that is. Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit. Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene - and to spy for the vamps while she's at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan's offering some steamy one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.

I think these books are really hitting their stride. I enjoyed this book immensely. There was tons of action between the vampires and the shifters and I really didn't see the villain coming which always makes me enjoy a book more. I loved the advancement of the relationship between Merit and Ethan. I did miss Mallory and Catcher as they didn't seem to be around quite as much as in the previous books. I'm really enjoying this book series and can't wait to listen to the next one. As a narrator, I like Cynthia Holloway and think she does an ok job though she doesn't differentiate between the characters as much as I like.

"Vampires in Chicago! You'd think headlines like that would have provoked the fine citizens of the Windy City to take up arms against us bloodsucking fiends. Instead, 10 months later, we're enjoying a celebrity status reserved for the Hollywood elite - fending off paparazzi only slightly less dangerous than cross- and stake-wielding slayers. Don't get me wrong. Joe Public isn't exactly thrilled to be living side-by-side with the undead, but at least they haven't stormed the castle...yet."

I actually enjoyed the first book in the series but I think this one was better. It built upon the building blocks of the first book to make this one more in depth. We get to see more about Merit's family and the way she grew up as well as advancing her relationships with Morgan, Ethan, Catcher and others in the house. She makes some more friends and seems to make peace with her unexpected change into a vampire. I like that Merit is snarky and doesn't take herself too seriously. I like Cynthia Holloway as a narrator but I do think she could differentiate between the voices a little more.

They killed me. They healed me. They changed me. Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn't exactly glamorous, but it was mine. I was doing fine until Chicago's vampires announced their existence to the world---and then a rogue vampire attacked me. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker...and this one decided that the best way to save my life was to make me the walking undead.

I liked the book. The premise was interesting with a few changes from the regular 'vampire' mythos and I liked the characters. I would have enjoyed seeing a little more of the material Merit was studying as a grad student but that's just personal preference. I didn't guess who the bad guy was until the very end and I'm looking forward to listening to the next book. I always enjoy listening to Cynthia Holloway as a narrator.

I thought this book was good enough to warrant wanting to listen to the second one but not right away. It was a decent mystery but I think I was expecting it to be funnier. The back and forth between the narrator and the killer was interesting but I'm not sure it really added much to the story. As for the narration, I didn't like the two narrators. It took a lot of getting used to and was a bit jarring. Separately I think they both did a good job but I didn't care for the way they were melded together with the sound effects. Susie Breck's voice also took a bit to get used to but after a bit I enjoyed her.

No one wanted another war. Thomas Theisman didn't. Not after risking his life to overthrow the Committee of Public Safety's reign of terror and restore the Republic of Haven's ancient Constitution. Baron High Ridge didn't. The Prime Minister of Manticore was perfectly happy with the war he had. No one was shooting anyone else at the moment, and his government could continue to milk all those "hostilities only" tax measures for their own partisan projects.

While this book had Honor Harrington as the main character she isn't in most of the book. This book was mostly layer upon layer of politics and how exactly the breakdown in communication came at the negotiating table. Some characters I feel badly for and others I just hate more and more. While some of the book seemed to drag a bit and I admit that I took several breaks to listen to other books, it was actually really fascinating. This is not however one of my favorite books of the series. It felt more like the whole books was setting up the next book in which the war must actively resumes. I wouldn't recommend reading this book without reading the books that have come before, starting with On Basilisk Station. I do like Allyson Johnson as a narrator and I like how she tries to keep the accents consistent between people of the same star nation. I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.

I wish there was only today, just right now, and no forever. It seems fitting that I fell in love in Paris, the most beautiful city in the world. And if I pretend, I can almost believe that my life is normal and everyone I care about is safe. But as long as I’m with Vincent, “normal” doesn’t exist. Gorgeous, charming, and witty, he’s everything you could ask for in a boyfriend - but his destiny is so much more. Even more terrifying than his destiny are his dangerous enemies, enemies who will kill for immortality.

Well, I didn't see the ending coming. There was plenty of action and quite a bit more information of exactly what the rules of the revenant are. I enjoyed the extra information and still find the idea of revenant very interesting. The new characters of Violette and Arthur are an interesting addition but I missed more of Charlotte. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I thought Julia Whelan did a good job narrating and pronouncing the french names.

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

I enjoyed this. The beginning was horrifying but Lacey's actions were funny. I enjoyed the story but it wasn't my favorite book of Molly Harpers. Lacey's family was very interesting and I abhor her husband but I did enjoy Lacey's journey of growing up. I liked the way the story wrapped up and it wasn't something I really saw coming. Amanda Ronconi did a very good job narrating and breathing life into the story.
