I would have read this book if I had known that dick hill was not the Narrator. I have called Audible and they offered a $10 credit, but have yet to change the listed narrator on the site. I listen to well over 100 books a year, so when I say this isn't DICK HILL, I am correct! They even announce another narrator when the book starts. He was OK, just didn't have the feel of Mr. Hill that has done the last few in the series. One if the best endings yet...hope there are more to come.
The way DeMille has Corey tell the story! I laughed all the way to vegas listening to this book. People asked what comedian was it?
As with all DeMille books, there are surprises throughout. He has to be one of the best ever and Scott Brick is the best person to read his works!
No way to say other than the obvious, Corey, but they are all wound together and the brining back of a character from other books was really fun.
I tried, but I have to work, sleep and eat. I wish it had lasted longer.
Great stand alone book, but sooooo much better if you have read/listened all the previous Corey books and UpCountry and General's Daughter too!
I didn't listen to this book for months after I had finished all the Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer series. I finally was out of books on my must read list (almost never happens) and was short on credits and had bought this and the poet a while back.
They were both just as good as any of his other books. Don't wait or not read these because they are not part of the main story lines. They are both very good and give some great back story to some of the characters in the main series. Should read them if possible in the order they fall in the other series. If you read this one and have not read a few of the Bosch books, this will have a few spoilers.
If you have liked any of the past books by David Baldacci this one is the best yet. I don't usually write reviews and usually listen while I am in the car. I found myself bringing my mp3 player inside to continue listening.
Keeps you on the edge with lots of surprises and suspense.
Just wish we didn't have to wait so long for these! Kept me up at night listening...stayed up and had to reset sleep timer a few times!
I was worried when I listened to Echo Burning that I had reached the end of the good Child books. The last two, prove that I can keep working my way through the series w/o worry. Two amazing books in a row.
I though his first two books were amazing...this one was actually hard to get though. I would let it sit so long that I would forget what was happening and really not care and just listen to get it over...I wish I didn't need to finish all my books!
I only preordered because of the promise of 2 chapters, I only got one! Looks like it might ba a great book...only time will tell.
I realize this is an earlier work, but I have read or listened to almost all of his books. With another narrator I might not have even finished it. Just never grabbed me!
I'll start by clearing a bias. I think that I could listen to Scott Brick read the phone book and his reading was why I got this book.
I starting wondering what the point of this book was and as the book progressed it became very clear. This book is about a journey that starts with a guy that is for all purposes dead, taking up our air and space. He has money and heath, but is dead.
A health scare starts a sequence of events that leads him on a strange journey that is entertaining and enlightening.
Get this book if you are willing to use the lessons to look inward, this is a well disguised self help book; or just want an entertaining story!
