It’s been almost a year since October "Toby" Daye averted a war, gave up a county, and suffered personal losses that have left her wishing for a good day’s sleep. She’s tried to focus on her responsibilities - training Quentin, upholding her position as Sylvester’s knight, and paying the bills - but she can’t help feeling like her world is crumbling around her, and her increasingly reckless behavior is beginning to worry even her staunchest supporters. To make matters worse, Toby’s just been asked to find another missing child…only this time it’s the changeling daughter of her fellow knight....

The last thing patrol cop Kate Prospero expected to find on her nightly rounds was a werewolf covered in the blood of his latest victim. But then, she also didn't expect that shooting him would land her in the crosshairs of a Magic Enforcement Agency task force, who wants to know why she killed their lead snitch. The more Prospero learns about the dangerous new potion the MEA is investigating, the more she's convinced that earning a spot on their task force is the career break she's been wanting. But getting the assignment proves much easier than solving the case.

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Despite the large cast I never felt lost in the story and how the intertwined lives slowly unfolded was absolutely riveting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I have two favorites: Krystal Wheedon for her plight and truth. She was such a real character and I found her story touching. Tessa Wall for her sympathetic and yet sensible attitude.

What about Tom Hollander’s performance did you like?

    It was great! Nuff said.

I absolutely adored this novel. Although, not entirely different in writing style from the Harry Potter series - this book certainly is not for children. Despite the large cast I never felt lost in the story and how the intertwined lives slowly unfolded was absolutely riveting. Thoughtful, serious, melancholy and disturbing. 5 stars!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

An actual story line - that was perhaps paranormal?

What could J. R. Ward have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Again, there was no story here.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I thought this was terrible. I think that the only reason I finished it was because the cost. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me - but I thought these books had more of a story to them than just straight up boning. That coupled with the over used and strange phrases made this book a near discard. What I thought started off as a pretty decent series evolved (for me) into a genre that I apparently just don't like. Bummer.

Meh. It was okay. Lots of erotica, not a whole lot of story. Still a great series - this just wasn't the strongest of the books.

Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on there were things she'd rather not know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things that she knows about, she'd rather not see—like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one. There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet—Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town.

Reading a new Sookie book is like going out of town to visit an old friend. I just love the drama, the mystery and all the characters. I find myself living in the little town of Bon Temps for the moment. This book did not disappoint. My only complaint? Too short!

If you could sum up Late Eclipses in three words, what would they be?

    Insanely Epically Awesome.

What other book might you compare Late Eclipses to and why?

This series give me the same delight that I get from the Harry Dresden Series. Well written, well scripted, funny, smart with just the perfect amount of drama, action and adventure.

Which character – as performed by Mary Robinette Kowal – was your favorite?

I'm a huge fan of the Tybalt.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

You can live your life in "should" and never change anything.

    Any additional comments?

I can't get enough of this series!

Would you try another book from Stacia Kane and/or Bahni Turpin?

No I mist likely would not.

What was most disappointing about Stacia Kane’s story?

A lot of slang from nearly everyone but the main character, which I thought was strange. I think the story was good and I could see the point behind the slang, but I didn't think it was necessary and for my part, it took away from the entire read. I probably wont continue on this series.

Would you be willing to try another one of Bahni Turpin’s performances?

Perhaps - but she has such an ethic tone that she shouldn't try and portray a little white girl.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was really disappointed by the entire book.

What did you like best about On the Edge? What did you like least?

The story was good and the idea was there- but the different worlds names seemed flat and simple to me.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The way the girl really became a woman throughout the book.

Do you think On the Edge needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I would most likely check it out.
