Narrator has a heavy accent - struggled to understand it. This was complicated by a discombobulated story line....ugh...

I would've liked a bit more explanation of what happened, before the characters started down the super-power route.... I suppose that is why it's a whole series. Good storyline, just needs to make sense now.

It’s been two years since the vampiric virus was unleashed in The Strain and the entire world now lies on the brink of annihilation. There has been a mass extermination of humans orchestrated by the Master - an ancient vampire possessed of unparalleled powers. The future of humankind lies in the hands of a ragtag band of freedom fighters - Dr. Eph Goodweather, Dr. Nora Martinez, Vasiliy Fet, and Mr. Quinlan, the half-breed offspring of the Master who is bent on revenge. It’s their job to overturn this devastating new world order.

Bought the series before I finished the first book - it was that good. I flew through them! Writing was fast paced, no blah-blah-blah moments at all!! I'm not usually a fan of "series" books, but this one made me understand how one can get hooked. Characters are believable, monsters are freaky and villans are lovable. Just perfect.

A bit predictable...but, not a bad story. I listen a lot while driving to and from work, so this book was a good listen; but I wasn't tempted to listen outside of my ride. Simply put, It was a good listen - but not good enough to keep me in the car!

A storm struck on the night Laura Shane was born, and there was a strangeness about the weather that people would remember for years. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but pleasantly surprised. Not really a horror, more sci-fi – but a good read. Some characters were quite amusing, others were uneventful – but that’s how it’s supposed to be, I guess.

Sci-Fi fans would like this more that horror fans…not scary or nail-biting, but an interesting story.

In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

I’m more of a horror fan rather than Sci-fi…but the story line sounded interesting. Honestly, it was a good futuristic view of the “what-ifs.” No heart-racing moments, but a good story.

Not bad, good story idea - but too unbelievable to be scary. To me, real scare starts with something that I can see happening and then makes me hesitate to turn off the lights…that’s the sweet spot. This book…..missed that.

But, it’s still an interesting story. The ending left me saying, “Hmmm.”
