Lucy Ashton had long ago given up her quest for true love. In the rarified society of Victorian England, Lucy plays the game—flirting, dancing and dabbling in the newly fashionable spiritualism. Even marrying when—and who—she’s supposed to. If the stuffy Duke of Sussex cannot spark the passion she craves, he can at least give her a family, a home of her own, and a place to belong. But when her polite marriage reveals a caring and sensual man, Lucy begins to wonder if she can indeed have it all.

Where does Pride & Passion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the better romance audios I've listened to. It was sexy, mysterious and interesting. The plot was well developed and the characters are interesting and the sex scenes were HOT! Lucy and Lord Sussex are a good match and their pairing is super heated, and passionate. I needed a "take me away" book and this totally took me to fantasy land.

Have you listened to any of Rebecca de Leeuw’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No and she was great.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes definitely but I have a job, my family and an old cat to care for.....had I not been a responsible person my whole family would have starved and our cat would be begging for food elsewhere!

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the next book. This was much better than expected!

Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, Carolyn is gaining an - um - intimate knowledge of her new neighbor's nocturnal adventures. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed "dating hiatus," and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor.

    What disappointed you about Wallbanger?

I expected more given the reviews. It was an OK listen. While yes there were some very funny moments, most of the book was boring. I was tired of hearing about her lack of "O" yes we got it, we got the memo several times. We get it, you can't have an organism. By the end I didn't care about either character. The last hour was literally a headache of continuous oh my god, I'm so totally awesome, i'm having a trillion back-to-back orgasms.

What was most disappointing about Alice Clayton’s story?

The narrator did not add to this story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Heather Smith’s performances?

    Yes

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

No major reactions - I just didn't like it as much as others.

When post-grad Rachael Hamilton accidentally gate-crashes a pro-athlete party, she ends up face-to-face with Ryan Carter, the NFL's most beloved quarterback. While most girls would be thrilled to meet the attractive young millionaire, Rachael would rather spend time with books than at sporting events, and she has more important things to worry about than romance—like her parents pressuring her to leave her unpaid publishing internship for law school.

Where does Rush Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among those books that fall under contemporary romance this listen is at the top. I totally got sucked into this book and this story of the hot NFL player Ryan and equally hot, loud mouthed, nerdy girl Rachel. I liked both characters and found the development of "them" to be funny, interesting and hot. Their sexual build up was slow and steady and when they finally hook up, I was relieved. This is up there with Rachel Gibson. This was a totally absorbing read and I'm so glad I downloaded this!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rush Me?

When the sexy womanizing NFL star starts to fall for Rachel. I think he falls for her first but is so intimidated by this young, sassy, independent girl . Unlike so many adoring fans, she is not impressed by his NFL status and she calls him on his crap and tells him like it is. And while Rachel was called bitchy a couple of times in this audio, I have to say - her character was refreshing and real. While there is much bravado behind her banter - that is what I liked most - she is young and trying to make it on her own. She is proud, intelligent, stubborn and scared. She felt very real.

Have you listened to any of Daniella Rabbani’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but I really liked her. She gave a lot to this recording. I think she was great as Ryan and Rachel. I would gladly listen to her again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I pretty much did! I lost sleep but it was worth it. I hope this author writes more books. I am a fan!

    Any additional comments?

    Absolutely worth the download!

Where does Reversing over Liberace rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was a nice surprise. This is another one of those books I've had in my library for a long time and finally decided to give it a go. I'm glad I did. This is the perfect book to listen to while on vacation. It is funny and entertaining and the story moves along and wraps with a happy ending!

What other book might you compare Reversing over Liberace to and why?

If you liked Bridget Jones then you'll probably like this. It has the same humor and some similar characteristics. In this book, Willow doesn't even know how adorable she is and like Bridget, Willow has 2 men in the works - a good one and a bad one. The development is just fun and light.

What aspect of Cori Samuel’s performance would you have changed?

I really didn't like Luke's voice. That is one aspect of the narration that I would have changed. It sounded so forced and I had a hard time listening to his character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I really liked Willow. She is funny and self deprecating with loads of friends and family that love her.

    Any additional comments?

A fun, lighthearted listen. I"m glad I finally gave it a chance.

Picture a late-May morning in 1918, a time when Montgomery wore her prettiest spring dress and finest floral perfume - same as I would wear that evening.... Thus begins the story of beautiful, reckless, 17-year-old Zelda Sayre on the day she meets Lieutenant Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald at a country club dance. Fitzgerald isn’t rich or settled; no one knows his people; and he wants, of all things, to be a writer in New York. No matter how wildly in love they may be, Zelda’s father firmly opposes the match....

What did you love best about Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald?

Without giving details away, I really liked this new telling of Zelda. Instead of being cast as yet again, the crazed selfish enigmatic muse that brings Fitzgerald down- she is in this story a smart, sassy, creative woman WAY ahead of her time. I really enjoyed this audio and have recommended it to many friends. It is very interesting, well written and perfectly narrated.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked Zelda and F.Scott's budding romance. It was sweet and charged with lots of chemistry. They were so drawn to each other and as their relationship grew you could see how they fused and how easily they could inflict each other equally with pain or happiness.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

no tag line, i think "Z" would do.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is a fun romp of a read. With that said, it is also a mixed bag of good and bad. At times, I was bored because it mimicked so much of FSOG. And believe me, while I tore through that book, I wasn't in love with it - it was hot but also totally ridiculous. I'm not sure which story came first, this one or FSOG but the stories are very similar. Now I'm not bagging on these books because clearly i've read both and enjoyed both so I just want to set expectations - both books are sexy, hot and poorly written, but hot and fun! So if you need to escape and just want some perfect body, everyone has an organism then, my friends you have found your story.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    drama-rama! Bring on book 2.

Have you listened to any of Jill Redfield’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, and she did a great job. Jill R. gave us Eva having an organism for most of this book so i imagine she has perfect skin and a smile just from faking it! I hope she had fun narrating this book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No because there isn't a real story, just hot sex. I can download that right?

I think this story is compelling either way but I did really appreciate Sandy Rustin's narration. She has a very young childlike voice and it was perfect for hearing Jenna's story.

    Any additional comments?

This book was so captivating. Jenna takes you inside the cult that is Scientology and shares so much more than I knew about the church. I've always been curious and have read a few other books on the topic but have never heard it from a child's perspective. It was truly heart breaking. There are so many bizarro rules and downright unethical moments that she and others like her had (and have) to endure that I was left speechless. What Scientology puts children and families through is no less than traumatic and abusive. This is a must listen - it is really disturbing and absolutely engrossing.

Would you be willing to try another book from Nick Hornby? Why or why not?

Yes I've read many of his books and I really love his stories. They are always entertaining - and many have been adapted into movies which goes to show you that he can write a story for the masses where the characters are likeable, the story is interesting balancing some serious trauma with self deprecating humor. The male character is always so terribly lovable and so seriously flawed. This book however is different. It didn't fall in this camp. It centers around a woman who is mother, wife, doctor and totally miserable. Katie has always done the right thing and she is married to the angriest man in Halloway (her husband's true weekly column self) and did i mention that she is miserable. The story is funny at times, but mostly I think it is serious and the end was just sad. It felt hopeless and serious.

What about Frances Barber’s performance did you like?

I liked her impressions of goodnews and Katie. You can hear in her voice how f'in fed up Katie is with her husband, with her life, with her lover, and with goodnews - ahh just with it all. She becomes unglued as her husband lets go of his anger and works at becoming more centered and that feeling of her losing her bearings felt very real. Much of this book felt like witnessing an uncomfortable conversation between friends - you know the kind. You get invited to someone's house and they are actually so fed up with each other that they can't even maintain the illusion of marital civility. Some of the dialogue felt like that.

    Any additional comments?

If you want a really good laugh, read Juliet Naked. That by far is one of my all time favorite Nick Hornby books.

What did you like best about Kill and Tell? What did you like least?

I liked that New Orleans serves as the backdrop to Kill and Tell because it only positively highlights the parallel story threads: one of suspense and mystery and the other of sexy something. Unfortunately, this audio book felt a little lopsided and unbalanced. On the one hand you have a nice suspenseful mystery; and it was well developed and that is the saving grace of this book. Why was Karen’s father killed? What is the deal with that little black book? What is the connection to Vietnam? And then we have the almost romantic story. The story was not developed and it left me wanting for more. Mark and Karen hook up and have incredibly sexual chemistry and after, I don't know, 36 total hours in bed, they declare their love, stop using condoms and decide to get married. It felt a little too drunken Vegas for me and I didn't see the purpose of the love declaration or marriage. Come on kids, just keep having great sex. Why ruin the story with marriage and love! It felt forced - as if it wanted to be a romance book and just didn't know how to get there. I need the emotional chemistry, courting, chasing, funny and sweet back and forth to be integral to my romance favorites. Kill and Tell was missing that.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Good - the mystery was resolved and I was even a little surprised.

What does Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like her narration - she has a nice voice, and is able to give everyone voice. She knows how to make her leading men sound sexy.

Life is not easy for the poor relations of England’s upper crust, but fate and clever schemes bring them together. Lady Fortescue and Colonel Sandhurst hatch a plan: What if they were to transform her decrepit Bond Street home into a posh hotel, offering their guests the pleasure of being waited upon by nobility? With the help of other down-and-out aristocrats, they do just that, and London’s newest hotel, The Poor Relation, is born. The establishment is an immediate hit with London’s most illustrious citizens, save the Duke of Rowcester....

Would you consider the audio edition of Lady Fortescue Steps Out to be better than the print version?

Yes because Davina Porter's voice has range and i thought she added to the comedy and hijinks of the poor, fallen aristocratic 6. This was a fun, very likable story!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked all the characters but Sir Philip was my favorite because he was the most audacious and most unscrupulous of the 6. He made me laugh. Next in line is Lady Fortescue because she is trying to keep it together even if that means a little thievery. Plus I appreciated her strong will and temperament. She is the antithesis of the reigning aristocracy - she is practical and level headed.

I purchased this book on sale a while back and I'm so glad I did. I was introduced to this clever little series and I hope more sales come along because I'd love to listen to more!
