Music Beach Dad

Pacing was good, plot was interesting, and as always with King, very good character development. I gave it three stars because of what I see as a serious logic flaw with the dome. Why was there never any mention of trying to dig or tunnel under the dome? It's the first thing a dog would try, and certainly even the dullest witted human would think of it in short order. It should have been the first rescue attempt tried -- certainly before bombs or acid. But the book did hold my attention throughout the 34 plus hours of listening which is a tall order for such a lengthy tale.

When I ordered this book, the average of the reviews was well above 4 stars and now they have dipped well below 4 . . . and for very good reason. The book is broken into three parts for the download, and I got most of the way through the first third waiting for it get interesting. Unfortunately, it never did. You will not be driving around the block, or sitting in the driveway to listen to more of this book. Sorry Mr. Wroblewski, but audible books have got to be compelling to hold my attention, and yours was not . . . at least not for me.

Having read a few of his earlier works, I quickly grew weary Dean Koontz novels and by the time I started my fourth, I quit before finishing it. Several years (about 15 or so) have since passed and I decided to give him another try - especially after reading some of the reviews posted here.

I was very disappointed with Odd Thomas. The supernatural gimmick here seemed even more gimmicky than some of his older works, and the story itself was superficial and certainly not compelling. There was no taking the long way home, or lingering in my car in our driveway with this audio book.

I really tried hard to like this book, but I was actually glad when this book ended. Sorry Mr. Koontz .
