"Couldn't put it down!"
This was an excellent book! It had many twists and turns but it was not confusing to follow the path. It was interesting to see how all the intrique tied together. I hightly recommend it.
"Key point missing from summary"
From reading the publishers summary of the book I had no idea the main character was a 15 year old boy (and a diagnosed sociopath) or that there were some supernatural elements key to the story. I wouldn't have wasted a credit had I known. I have to agree with the comparision to "Robert Stack" on the narrator.
"Disapointing"
I agree with several of the previous reviews. I, too, have read several Kay Scarpetta books. This one was hard to follow, I thought I had my iPod on shuffle (I'm serious)at one point because I had no idea what was happening. The characters were old, tired, crabby and mean. I agree it doesn't come close to her other books.
"Good Book, Great Reader"
First, Robertson Dean has a fabulous voice, he could read the phone book and I would probably like it! Second the book was very engaging. It had many plot twists, good characters, and espionage right up to the president of the USA. The surprises continued right until the very last page. I recommend it for anyone who listens to a lot of mystery/thrillers.
"Very Disappointing!"
I listened to 3 of Jodi Picoult's more recent books and really enjoyed them! This one was a major disappointment, the characters are weak, unprincipled people, and absolutely nothing happens. I learned a bit about Scottish customs, but not enough to make it worth over 16 hours of listening. I was hoping Picoult would pull it out of the bag with a surprise ending, but no such luck. I gave it 0 stars, because even if you're snowbound, it's not worth the time.
