This series is a compelling story of a WW2 US navy destroyer sent through to an alternate reality. Everything is different and way more deadly. The sailors make an ally and a enemy along the way. The Grik are pure predators wanting to eat and kill everything in its path. The Lemurians are peaceful human like creatures with attributes of cats and monkeys. They ally with the destroyermen to fight for survival.

The story i would say isn't anything really unique, the bad and good guys are obvious and so on. However the characters are great, and the new world is scary and exciting. The destroyermen are from the 1940s bringing up issues and ideals from that time. It's exciting how the destroyermen plan to fight on with limited ammo and fuel with no known resupply. The overall series is vastly enjoyable and this book is a great introduction.

What makes me really enjoy listening though is the narrator, oh William Dufris... I wish he could do every audiobook. This series has at least 30 different recurring characters and William seems to have a unique voice for every single one. Roughly half of them are human, the rest have a reptilian voice (grik) and a feline voice (Lemurians). For each of these races the unique characters have unique voices... I have to say this story wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if read from a book versus Mr. Dufris.

This book is a great introduction to an amazing series. The series overall is my #1 favorite, beating lord of the rings, game of thrones, star wars etc. It all just fits together into such a fun and amazing series with all the humor, lore, magic, characters, and mystery.

Harry Dresden is a smart-ass wizard that never knows when to stop or shut up. He steps in the face of deadly monsters making the cheesiest remarks. He is a man in turmoil he fights the good and evil inside himself to try and get the job done. Hes a character that i have come to love and i hope you will too.

This book isn't the best in the series but is a great introduction into the world of Dresden Files. The only problem is if you like this book the series only gets better, and you'll waist all your credits on the rest of the books!

The narrator does a great job and holds the feel of each character through the entire series i didn't purchase the 12th book due to Marsters not being able to narrate it. I decided to read it instead. Marsters does a great job and just becomes what you expect as you read the series!

This story has to be mostly true, its a story where someone couldn't just make it up. I don't really know how else to explain it. It an adventure of India that is 100% unique and makes it very special. Its an experience of a different culture traveled by a man that is in no way a saint. The characters met are special and each very enjoyable.

It's not just a read its an amazing experience, the narrator does a great job of the voices and just adds to the story. I can't really say much more just pick it up and read it i doubt you'll regret it.

First looking at this book i was interested in reading an old classic that was based on nuclear aftermath. The book really isn't that aged as some say it feels like it could of been written very recently. The story is based around a few main characters initial surviving in the hellish aftermath of nuclear war. These characters are molded by their situations and decisions in the fierce fight for survival. There is a prominent element of "magic" throughout the book that is surreal and enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book a lot mainly because there was so much depression and sadness when something hopeful or good happened it shined like a bright light in the darkness. It filled me with pride and joy for the characters and humanity in general. It's something I've never really experienced with any other story.


I have always loved humanities willingness to survive and endure. This book expresses it so well.

This book is amazing, the entirety of the book is based around multiple mysterious entities and events that take form in the Glitter Band. In a very distant future where death can be suspended by digital copies, thousands of space stations each very different from the next all being guarded and regulated by Prefects. These Prefects have the power to uphold justice and order but have limited powers. They face an extinction level event that would wipe out the entire Glitter Band.

This story I found starts out somewhat slow with an investigation, being new to space opera and audible in general i found it somewhat taxing. However soon things begun to unravel turning this book into one of my favorites yet. If you enjoy mysteries, science fiction or crime fighting this great book packs it all into one exciting adventure.

I enjoyed this book very much, it has a touch of realism that you don't find in other sci-fi stories. The story is based on Jim Holden and detective miller. Both these characters are set on events that lead them to a secret threat to humanity. The book plays a strong idealism on "Humanity" Jim and Miller are very similar men but have strong opposite beliefs on humanity or the right thing to do. These two characters have good depth, the story itself starts off as an mystery and builds into twists and turns that dawns on the characters as it does on you.

It's a great book about a possible future of humanity reaching into space but still very limited and fragile. It shows that survival of the human race comes down to the perception of right and wrong.

Personally I cannot wait for the following books to come out, the book doesn't end requiring a sequel but a sequel is much anticipated by me.
