I listened without knowing anything about him except that he is a famous rapper and it seemed like he was respected. This book outlines his business mind and how he has used it over the years to be #1 in everything he does. Even his music is only a means to an end to be #1 in his venture to rise to the top of the business world. Unfortunately his story seemed to be without heart and the people that talk about him describe him as wanting nothing more than money and power. I need to do more research if I am to understand him as a human being. Still, it is and interesting book to listen to because you learn about the world of hip hop music and it's culture via his journey in helping to shape it!!!

Outliers made me think about my own past. He makes some good points about how certain systems we have in society effect us more than we realize. For instance, the location of our schooling and the age cut off dates when we began school might have caused a beneficial trend or the opposite in our life. These little advantages help to shape our growth within these systems more that we might realize. On the surface these truths may seem obvious but he goes into some detail about how it all plays out and that's pretty interesting.

Living a secret life for so long was hell for Chely. She really lets you in on all the twists and turns along the way and how it almost led to suicide, literally. I was absolutely amazed at her honesty and courage to share it with the world. I think her story has really made some people think very hard and to review their core beliefs about gays. This is an amazing and important story!!!

I love books about achieving things beyond what you can imagine! This book is an awesome story in that regard! I found it to be very motivating and a pleasure to listen to!
